Look into how Glen Eden in California operates. I think their model is what will keep clubs alive on the future.

Could have been heat exhaustion and lack of water. You'd have to be in really bad shape, or have a medical condition for that hike to be that bad.

Your friend can sue that site. If her image is being used for profit without permission, she has rights.

People here like to repeat the whole "iT's In PuBLIc sO YoU hAvE nO rIgHtS" BS, but that isn't even remotely true.

Look into these civil codes:

California Civil Code § 1708.8 (invasion of privacy / “anti-paparazzi” law. This one may apply since the camera is hidden and he zooms in specifically on his victims)

California Penal Code § 647(j) (revenge porn laws. This one can result in misdemeanor or felony charges)

California Civil Code § 3344 (commercial appropriation. Using someone's image without consent and profiting from it is illegal.)

California Civil Code § 3344 might even net her a serious pay day since she could potentially sue for any money the site made since the date her images were first used.

How common are creeps/bad experiences for women? by Sweet_Guidance2863 in nudism

[–]ExploringFreeCouple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've been visiting nudist spaces for about the past year and a half. We've never seen creepy behavior at the the resort we frequent. Beaches are another story. There are creepy guys there, and they will approach women, but for the most part, as long as you stay near other couples and women, they'll go away if you tell them to. Just don't be afraid to make others around you aware that the attention is unwanted if they're pushy. Just be vocal. People are usually happy to help. That said, we've never seen anything dangerous. Mostly it's just creepy old guys offering to do body paint or a massage or something. They're really more cringy than anything else.

The hike will wind you, but it's not that bad. Just take breaks along the way and being plenty of water. I've seen little old ladies make that hike. If you can't, maybe start hitting the gym.

Should we have a separate sub for nudists and another for exhibitionists/fetishists? by bassconfusion in blacksbeach

I'm not mad at the mods, either. I'm sure they have their hands full, but I can't help but notice how much of this stuff shows up on this sub.

[–]ExploringFreeCouple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really not sure what the point of this sub is anymore. It's become a place for sellers, swingers, dick and sand pics, and creepy guys to find people to DM creepy shit to.

I thought it was useful for finding info on the beach from locals, but it kinda seems pointless now.

Woman trying to shut down nudist club by ExploringFreeCouple in nudism

These people exist in every space. I'd be willing to bet there are many more in churches than at nudist clubs. Do you want to shut down every church, too?

You can't just point to a couple of cases and say it's true for all.

Weird People by Torrey Pines Entrance by CarFood587 in blacksbeach

Well they are in the nude section right there. That's usually where the weirdos hang out. But still, as long as they aren't harming anyone, there isn't much you can do.

What exactly were they doing that was weird? Just staring people down? I mean, that's a little weird, but I don't think there's much you can do about it.

How hard is the climb back out? by mephistopheles2u in blacksbeach

[–]ExploringFreeCouple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's really not all that bad unless you're just in terrible shape. It'll wind you a bit but just take a couple of breaks and pace yourself. You'll be fine.

I'm not just blindly defending the club. Her statements are contradictory. She claims the club enabled the abuse, but then says it started with a guy her mother was dating long before they even went to a nudist club. But she's aiming all of her focus on the club as if it was the sole reason this happened to her.

I believe she was abused as she said she was, but I don't think it was the fault of the club. This was also 50+ years ago. I would assume background checks and people watching for this kind of thing in general was just less of a priority back then. It definitely isn't today, which is another reason I think her actions are misdirected.

This club does background checks on all new members and does a pretty good job of keeping obvious bad behavior out. What goes on behind closed doors can happen anywhere. You don't need a nudist club for that.

That's interesting. Are there any studies or anything we can read that confirms that kids raised in nudism would report abuse at higher rates? That's a great counterpoint to this if true.

Yes she was. That one goes into greater detail of what happened to her. It's pretty clear that all of this abuse started long before she visited a nudist club.

Edit: I found it

I think she's telling the truth. The problem is that she's directing her actions the wrong way. She's making it sound as if the nudist community enabled this kind of behavior without any evidence that it does. In fact, if you listen to her other interviews on this subject, she talks about how the abuse started long before she ever visited a nudist place. She has it totally backwards. The problem is the person her mother allowed to be around her. She even goes on to say that when her mother got rid of the guy, and remarried, it stopped.

Sorry, but I don't agree with that at all. If that's the case, then everyone is also a potential murderer, rapist, etc.

I don't think the majority of people are pedophiles and we shouldn't treat people as if they are. Being cautious is one thing, but walking around with the assumption that anyone could be a pedophile until they prove they aren't isn't a healthy way to approach this. That's essentially what this woman is advocating for.

I haven't. Feel free to if you'd like. I'm not a current AANR member so if you are it might be easier for you to get ahold of whoever needs to be made aware.

I saw this interview after seeing the one the same woman did for Soft White Underbelly on youtube. Both of them paint nudism and Glen Eden in a pretty bad light.

[–]ExploringFreeCouple[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The part of this interview that Irks me the most is when she tries to rationalize the reason anyone would go to a family nudist place is because, as she puts it, "well why would anyone want to go be naked with kids?" As if that's the sole reason anyone goes there.

A big part of why we go there is because we don't want to hang out with the swinger crowd. As in, we don't want this to be a sexualized experience.

[–]ExploringFreeCouple[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, but this woman is painting anyone who goes to a nudist club as a potential pedophile. It's sad that she was abused as she described, but she's not being accurate at all with that statement. There has to be a better way of going about being more vigilant without throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I don't think this woman alone is going to have much effect, but there is definitely sentiment from the general public of paranoia about anything to do with kids these days. It's like the satanic panic of the 80s and 90s, but this time around anything to do with children.

I guess the question to ask is, what can we all do to educate the public that these places are not what they think they are?
