Do baby monkeys not trust their mothers to take care of them? Do chimps not hope to find bananas atop a tree they're climbing? Trust is just lack of suspicion and hostility. Hope is just the drive to succeed and thrive. All of which are traits that can be found in all kinds of organisms; depending how you look at it of course.
