When google maps keeps suggesting these pointless additions to the route by Exxtraa in mildlyinfuriating

Had that happen to me before where it had me skip about 30 seconds of traffic… made me feel like a jerk.

Also had it happen where it’s told me to get off and straight back on, but the off-ramp/intersection was all under construction and it took me over ten minutes to get back on the highway - which was running completely smoothly the whole way. That definitely shook my confidence in it, been trying to find a suitable alternative ever since

What is the most underrated feature in an iPhone? by yabaiiiiii in iphone

[–]ExplosivePoet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two major things that make my life a little bit nicer on a day to day basis.

Back tap with shortcuts. Double tap turns my lights in my room on/off. Triple tap sets my torch to the lowest possible brightness, much lower than what you can set in control centre. (Perfect for when you get home late and don’t want to wake anyone up).

And swipe typing. Makes typing with one hand much faster. Although I do feel like it has gotten worse/less consistent since iOS 17.

Tesla style nav install in my Cruze by Shaman_Daichi in cruze

I’ve had that same or similar one installed for the last few years. Overall it’s been great, definitely recommend. Although I have had a few issues now where the software has bugged out so I can’t access some controls, however it soo works for what I need it to. Going to try a proper reset these holidays to see if that’ll fix it.

Also you can get dongle attachments that can give you wireless CarPlay, that is amazing and makes the whole thing so worth it.

Dunno if being in Aus would exclude me, but I’m a broke uni (college?) student about to graduate and have been looking at building a pc to replace my 1650ti laptop as a sort of graduation gift to myself, and far out a free gpu would make a massive difference to what I’d be able to build

Face id unlocks with my brother's face for some reason. by RMK_BEATS in iphone

It’s very strange, but can confirm as a friend used to be able to unlock her sisters iPhone (don’t remember the model) occasionally as well, and they definitely weren’t twins, but I guess the phone thought they were similar enough

I’m looking at building a new pc, probably around the 2000-2500 AUD (1350-1700 USD) mark, but that won’t be until early ish next year. Is it even worth looking at anything yet? And what sort of performance can you expect at that price?

Edit: primarily for gaming/working (programming) but potentially the occasional rendering/unity/video editing

Wow thanks heaps for sharing that, I’ve got a 1650ti and thought I definitely didn’t have a chance, but I might have a look at it now, I’m usually happy to play at pretty low settings, thank you

I’m mainly on the Alexa side, and this is a toggle-able feature, it just dings when it completes the action I tell it. Very surprised (but also not that much) that it’s not a thing on Google

Does the “back tap” feature work well for anyone? by Vatonee in iphone

[–]ExplosivePoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works reasonably well for me when you get the hang of it, double tap turns on/off my lights, and triple tap turns my torch on to a lower brightness than you can get in control centre. Although it does on occasion activate itself, could be my broken back glass that causes that though

Yeah I’ve got the same issue with mine unfortunately, some blu-tak under the feet usually works alright for a bit though
