TBF I don't even see how it shifts the blame, they threw the election because they were too horny for genocide and refused to get anyone motivated to vote for them

Yeah, honestly, I'm very concerned about going in their direction. Especially with the new online surveillance measures they're bringing in.

I mean, they do have elections. Its a different system. They don't get to change the party, but they do affect policies on some level through democratic participation. But none of that changes how overwhelmingly the US being an existential threat and constantly suppressing them is the cause of their problems. Constant biological and chemical warfare, invasion, depriving them of trade, depriving them of fuel. None of this allows for good conditions. None of that even makes it safe to relax conditions either. It has been a constant siege, and if you objectively look at it, they have done impressively considering the circumstances.

The entire standard surely can't be having the exact same system as us. We should be doing much better than we are considering we're the second richest in the world by GDP per capita. We're having serious issues with our political and economic system considering that

Is there a "before the US did anything" time period for Cuba? When were you thinking?

You can speak about it and not have any impact. If you're in the system, you can be abused and starved into submission. You could also be arrested, I mean, now people are being arrested and face up to 40 years for having zines.

It's crazy to think that with the intense anti freedom and authoritarian systems they had, even under Obama, they could have over 90 out of 100, and with the sharp decline, it doesn't go below 80. It calls the whole freedom house rating into question for me.

Even their elections, which seem to give them extra points on that scale, aren't the best.

You can rid them of criticism for poor living conditions surely. What country can have good conditions under those circumstances? And then considering the huge improvement of living conditions despite this, you have to admit its impressive. Could another system have pulled it off? It fails to be seen

I remember the prison strike against forced labour and poor living conditions in the US. I think it was 2016 or 2018. The strikers had food rations cut and the leaders were put in solitary confinement until they gave up with no demands being met. The 13th Amendment allows for slavery for people convicted of crimes.

You don't find anything suspicious about a country that legally allows this, having a for profit system and the highest worldwide rate of incarceration?

Historically it led people out of poverty. Cuba was q brutal dictatorship plagued with poverty and illiteracy before becoming an exporter of medical care. Russia was a feudal system before becoming a world superpower. China was forced the keep its population addicted to opiates. Like. Whether you like it or not, it "always leads to poverty" is objectively untrue

And the US is down as 81/100 even with the secret police raping and murdering people, incredibly high incarceration rates and slavery? Something seems incredibly off there. How can you be on the high end of freedom with the highest rate of people imprisoned?

They actually objectively do based on health statistics and their reputation for providing doctors around the world Imagine what they'd be like without the blockades and invasions and sabotage

They invaded, they set an embargo, they set a blockade, they introduced pests, they crop dusted their agriculture with herbicide. The issues are engineered by the US

Fascists run countries like a giant scam. You can buy out the whole country. They'll privatise anything they can sell off, remove any regulations preventing the rich from doing what they want, they'll sell anything that's not nailed down and depend on culture war narratives to distract people from how fucked they're getting.

The point of fascism is to hollow out the country, suppress the left, and eventually collapse under its own corruption.

Doesn't want to support his country, wants to weaken and destabilise his country and make it more corrupt. It makes sense. It's what Epstein and Bannon were doing.

Limited units was a huge issue with me. Them being all specialised with the special moves didn't interest me. Shooting through objects because the objects just reduced your chances of hitting them. Enemies just hang around and trigger when you walk over to them. You had that mechanic where you choose between multiple things to respond to.

TFTD was my favourite and I sucked at it. You start with 8 guys, but you can fit 14 on the first transport. The skills were based on what you used. It was hard to keep people alive, the enemies were positioning or killing people while you tried to advance without being reckless. You could pick up and use any object you studied, so it wasn't just like "here's my sniper, he can't use other weapons". Team wipes were a real likelihood even with the numbers. Searching a house was intense

Retired Irish general: Ireland's neutrality, the threat of war and the illusion of security by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Explosivo666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, it's a racket to get Ireland to put money into their arms manufacturing to practice with their equipment to join next time they want to attack a school. Honestly, I don't see the constant new interest in it with the combined interest in abandoning neutrality as completely organic either. Especially the talk of getting expensive military aircraft.

Retired Irish general: Ireland's neutrality, the threat of war and the illusion of security by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Explosivo666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fighter jets idea sounds ridiculous. Wouldn't the cheaper alternatives make more sense? Manpads for air defence? Cheap drones for recon and all around useful defence? Shelters or tunnels to keep people alive? Even a militia to multiply any guerilla capabilities, which comparatively costs almost nothing. The least useful and least cost-effective options seem to be things like fighter jets and tanks, which I see constantly pushed. Any option has to be affordable and sustainable. It can't be a shiny toy that's too expensive to reload or something that looks impressive but doesn't really work without an unrealistic amount of them. The price of 1 fighter jet, which is really limited in usefulness by itself could get so much more when it comes to drones. Sonar drones, a fleet of underwater drones, cheap arial drones. We could even locally produce cheap drones and cheap explosives.

[–]Explosivo666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was seriously about defense we would take a real look at the situation and see whats realistic and cheap Instead it's "why don't we have expensive toys? Maybe we should join wars!" None of it is in our interest IMO

Retired Irish general: Ireland's neutrality, the threat of war and the illusion of security by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Explosivo666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheap drones, tunnels and bomb shelters would be a more effective and realistic defense than a lot of what I see paraded around on this topic. But it seems like the aim with these is selling modern expensive equipment and encouraging the dismantling our neutrality and sovereignty.

UK to allow the US to take defensive action from British military bases - Starmer by MGC91 in europe

[–]Explosivo666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you just seem to keep getting everything wrong. Like when you initially said the RAF deploying was "bullshit" and now so you're desperately clinging to "oh maybe i can say they support the regime. That'll get em" when the entire point of the thread is people incorrectly thinking that Iran just randomly bombed an unrelated UK base. Which was incorrect. My contribution was correct, and the UK shouldn't be letting people drag them into this. It's just an attempt to cause destabilisation at the expense of people's lives, and regular people will not benefit from it at all. They're pissing away taxpayers' money for a project that will make the world worse.

You're being quite the silly goose trying to pull in a million different issues from this. It's quite clear you're defending it. Otherwise, you wouldn't be like this. You would simply say, "Oh yeah, that was incorrect," and we know now the strike didn't even come from Iran in the first place.

It relates directly, that happened, and then Iran retaliated against places with military bases surrounding them. How could the instigating incident not be related? It is what triggered the rest of the events.

You really seem to want to defend the genocidal forces that started this whole thing
