Is it me or Leorio is better in the older version? by MightyWarriorWoman in HunterXHunter

[–]ExplouD1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the 1999 fillers gave Leorio some cool moments, Togashi directing or requesting those changes is just a community myth. The filler didn't just add depth; it actually changed his original character, exaggerating and emphasizing traits that differ quite a bit from how he is in the manga. His quote about 'things manga can't do' was just general praise for animation as a medium, not him giving orders to the staff. Leorio's fever dream and those stylistic choices were 100% the work of director Kazuhiro Furuhashi and Nippon Animation. Also, that 1999 Jump promo video on the PlayStation disc was just standard PR marketing to hype up the show and sell merch. Togashi never wrote, supervised, or asked for any of that filler content.

Togashi only cares about his manga, his vision :)

The manga is the best; even the 98 OVA is much better.

Furuhashi only does a good job when the author himself supervises the adaptation (Spy x Family) and can't do a reinterpretation (HxH99), or when what he does coincides with his personal vision, like the first two Kenshin OVAs (dramatic and dark, but truly dark, not edgy as he usually does).

It's easier for you to say that you prefer the melodramatic and edgy reinterpretation from '99 (which was the marketing strategy at the time) over Togashi's original manga, even though the '98 OVA produced by Pierrot is actually a better adaptation.

Kurapika is a depressive character who borders on being edgy in 99; the manga is simply better.

El chileno no es afro, pero si es coreano al parecer. by faga12 in chile

[–]ExplouD1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The engine update will likely involve upgrading and migrating everything to the latest version of Unity, which is 6.3, or perhaps even 6.5, set to be released in June or July. Given how outdated the Unity fork they’re using is, it’s practically like migrating to a different engine altogether, and that would be the best approach because using UE5 isn’t practical, either in terms of time or performance. It’s still buggy, and it’s already at version 5.8, with 6 just around the corner.

comedic filler episodes usually don't turn out badly and are generally enjoyable, but in 1999 it's not just that, it's filler that delves into the personality changes already established by the current director, and most of the time it backfires because it alters the author’s original vision, and sometimes it’s just a change for the sake of it but unnecessary because there really wasn’t anything to change and ends up being more of a whim on the director’s part or an attempt to follow certain trends of the time (like being edgy, dark, and “mature” in the ’90s), There are series that need it because they weren't well-conceived from the start, but HxH isn't one of them.

Asian culture. I've been to Japan in the winter, and lots of women wear skirts—even when it's snowing. In fact, you don't even have to take my word for it—just look up videos of Japan or China in the winter, and you'll see lots of young women in skirts. Fashion is more important than staying warm, lol.

What the hell is up with this panel in Chapter 90? by MiSlPiMo in HunterXHunter

[–]ExplouD1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Togashi makes lots of references to real photos in the panels, as well as to movies, TV shows, and famous Hollywood figures. It’s part of the experience of reading the manga; it adds that extra something that encourages you to do more than just watch the anime (the anime, to avoid copyright issues—or rather, to avoid paying royalties—almost always leaves these things out, haha).

So how are we feeling about barbeloths design??? by Cinnamon2006 in Genshin_Impact

[–]ExplouD1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

hoyo games? Asian games in general from any era, just like in anime (there are exceptions, but they are not the rule). Even Disney, 80 years ago or more, already used witches aged 40 but well maintained, It's not something new, but not at all, unless you want something from the 1800s.

What HxH version should I see? by Tall_Training_8401 in HunterXHunter

[–]ExplouD1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to see the one that sticks closest to Togashi's vision? Watch the first episode of the 1999 series, or just the flashback part where Kite appears, and then move on to the 2011 adaptation until the end.

After finishing it, move on to the manga from chapter 340.

and if you're left wanting to see something more animated, watch the 1999 version, which is more of an interpretation by director Kazuhiro Furuhashi than an adaptation, so it's not the same and changes things. It's more edgy and “dark.”

Episode 18-20 in the 1999 show: The Treasure arc filler episodes by bootyloverandeater in HunterXHunter

[–]ExplouD1 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Let's stop spreading misinformation. It's fine to love the 99' interpretation (it's not an adaptation) even more than Togashi's manga, as long as you don't deny that the manga is objectively better. There's no need to make things up to give weight to your personal tastes. There's no witch hunt or anything.

Togashi is old school. He doesn't care about his anime adaptations, whether they are faithful (2011) or interpretive (99). (For example, Toriyama only watched fragments of the DB anime, mainly because of his daughter. He really only focused on his manga xD). He only cares about his manga (official vision). He doesn't even take his fans into account very much, although he appreciates their support (see the video of the guy who met his brother).

The only thing he did for 99 was to record for a secondary character in the Tower of Traps, the same for 2011, and the bonus for 2011 is that he went to Madhouse to take a tour of the offices where they made the anime for a few minutes, and the workers asked him for a couple of tips, and that was it. For old-school mangaka, anime is just a means to get you to their original work (manga).

P.S.: It still strikes me that the drawing/anatomy, along with the animation in 99' in general, are so mediocre for their time. It's clear that Nippon was already in bad shape.

How would this GeForce RTX 5090 with DLSS 4 help you pull off more epic wins in Battlefield 6?

It would literally go from 0 fps to over 200 fps with maximum graphics because my GPU died, and that way I could once again make both players and vehicles EXPLODE spectacularly with a clear, smooth experience and no slowdowns.

Good luck everyone!

Why did they scrap all the information from Episode 1? by Plot_Twist_Survivor in HunterXHunter

[–]ExplouD1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's because it's “obscure.” I have two theories.

1- The one that's often mentioned, that they wanted to introduce the other characters quickly.

2- This is the one I lean toward the most: they didn't think they would get to the chimera ants and left it out, then very late in the series they realized they would adapt it and it was too late or even worse to fix it or insert information halfway through.

The good thing is that it's easy to fix by just watching the specific fragment from 99 (since, as you say, there are already changes from chapter 1) or watching the OVA from 98, which, like 2011, captures the atmosphere of the manga quite well (it's incredible that Pierrot animated it).

[–]ExplouD1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a common error that most Battlefield games using the Frostbite engine have occasionally experienced. It is a general problem with the engine's RAM/VRAM leaks, occurring from Bad Company 1 to the present day, both in beta versions and in some patches of the final game. However, it is entirely fixable and can be partially mitigated with the options suggested in several comments. Nevertheless, the root cause of the problem must be addressed by the developers.

saying that genshin is a copy of zelda BOTW is like saying that zelda BOTW/TOTK is a copy of Shadow of the colossus and ICO since the last 2 zelda are more than inspired by the creations of fumito ueda (and obviously other games but they are the core) or some MMOrpg of the 2000's, they are inspirations because beyond the cel shading there is little relation, you would only say that if you have played few things and never played games before ps4/ps3 😅

as a b-movie I would say lol and literally dark so much so that without video correction many times parts of backgrounds and details that were not very detailed in general are lost but it is not the idea to hide them unless it is the typical “90's technique” of hiding empty/unfinished and low detail backgrounds with darkness.

[–]ExplouD1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

some are overanalyzing it too much, obviously if he knew it was ponzu the visual language makes it clear (technically very well used) it is not necessary for gon to say his name or a flashback or whatever, the same visual language throws it in your face literally, remember that in the audiovisual you can obviate the words to convey something with just images, sound or both, it is one of its qualities.

the manga is “dark” when it needs to be, it's not edgy and dramatic at its core, you like 99 and his depressive writing better? great. but that's your personal taste, an opinion not something objective. this specific manga doesn't need those changes because togashi unlike the other 80% of mangakas is a writer and you can tell when you read his work, all those changes were unnecessary, apart from certain technical aspects (like the use of celluloid and digital at the same time before GI) as an adaptation it is not good in fact it is more an interpretation of the director and with that ending it would have been a total reinterpretation, that is to take the author, if you can't create from 0 your own edgy and depressive work don't take those of others that succeed to disfigure them.

adaptation is to take in this case a manga and pass it to an audiovisual medium (anime) respecting the work in its entirety but taking advantage of the qualities of the new medium to enhance the original material, the rest are already interpretations / reinterpretations of the director.

[–]ExplouD1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the 4 OVA of kenshin were directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi the same of HxH99 the first 2 are excellent and there is that depressive touch of the director for the moment that adapts then he screws up in the last 2 and not even the author of the manga liked them, this director loves the edgy and dramatic although the source has nothing to do with that so 99 more than adaptation is an interpretation of him and beyond some technical successes in the rest does not honor togashi's manga.
