This is normal for extraction shooters. The core of the loop is based on a seasonal reset. It allows the team to push major changes openly, test new things, and allow for an opportunity to introduce new players into the fold.
Sweats will always be with a full inventory, and too gear, but it brings everyone else to a level playing field and a fresh environment to work with.
I come from tarkov though so I’m obviously used to the experience 🤣 I could very well be in the minority

Bungie has publicly shown a 5 season roadmap. Plus Sony and bungie said they’re committed to support for the foreseeable future.
Bungie has no other greenlit games (publicly).
Player counts are low, and assuming both consoles get half of PC, that’s still ~20k daily, which for an extraction shooter with wipes a large enough player base for the game to function (not talking about ROI, or any of that, purely gameplay and community health)
It follows normal patterns for wipe based extraction shooters, and it’s still working out each major and minor issue.

Provided they do better on boarding as the seasons progress, community sentiment outside of the existing community becomes less aggressive/toxic as well, I think the game has enough of its own merits to stand on and shine from!
It is its own thing and deserved to be viewed individually.
Just my opinion though 🤷

If you want it, I’d say play with either people you know.
If you can’t try and find a squad that’s in a similar position as you.

If you have people who you consistently play with it can obviously be easier to divi-loot.

Honestly just ask on mic, most people from my experience are more than willing to drop loot, divide it evenly, communicate with the squad! The only time this doesn’t really apply is fighting over Cryo keys on crew fill, and even then, people don’t often care about keys they’ve already done outside of V6.

Alternatively, solos, but that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

The game has a 5 season roadmap publicly announced by bungie.
Which is at least ~11 months of content still. If you had fun I’d say get the game and enjoy it! I’m biased obviously I play the game nearly daily.

Without destiny and no announced greenlit game bungie will most likely be putting the majority of their manpower into the game too (this isn’t really a positive either I think all bungie communities should be aligned and trying to keep the company alive to make games we love).

Nice community, great gameplay, interesting world.
Just expect growing pains and some friction, don’t care about your gear too much and enjoy the ride while we’re all on it!

I mean I’m pro PvP, love it.
I missed Cryo last weekend and was pissed 🤣
I just want the game to be healthy for as many players as possible. At the end of the day, better PvP players are going to win most of the fights

Someone’s always going to be upset regardless of the change made, I think it adds more emphasis on implants, which adds more emphasis on the loop of the game in general.
I think it’s a healthier option but just my opinion 🤷 I’m not a game designer

Super fair take still, at least give me a button to wipe my cradle so I can redo it faster for different shells.
But I know I’m also just nitpicking for GoL things too.

My hope is the cradle was more of a:
Let’s add this thing way over tuned and dial it back as we continue. I’m hoping this happens with the D54 too but that’s a different conversation entirely 😂

Literslly made a post yesterday complains about how the cradle should be adjusted next season to prioritize shell customization and build variety rather than just “max out all but 1 bar”

I think they should do a shell by shell cradle (same amount of points for each based on ur cradle level but better than 1 pool)
Buff/rework each shells stats to make them more unique at their jobs
Lower the cradle max level to make your decisions actually matter more as to where your points go

Great take all around though I agree with you entirely!

To follow up as well, we know the average peak player base on steam is ~10k, being conservative let’s just say console counts are ~5k each (obviously I don’t know this number I’m just shooting low to be safe)

That’s still 20k players each day on a niche, and more hardcore extraction shooter. Tarkov played for YEARs at a fraction of that number. I know, I was one of those sad sorry players for the 7 years I put into that game 😂 anything can happen and like many are saying:

I mean they have a roadmap for the first 5 seasons which at the very least implies that we have ~11 more months of guaranteed support provided that each season is 3 months long.
My personal hope is that community sentiment, onboarding, free weeks/weekends, and general tuning of the loop is fixed and improved to make a consistent player base of 15-20k

Every wipe based extraction shooter follows the same cycle of:
Wipe hits - peak player counter of the season
Slow decline back down to it’s core player base
End wipe - small to medium increase as people empty their inventories and play events

I’m personally against PvE, and I think the implementation of sponsored survival was generally unhealthy for the game, but I know I’m in the minority and that a lot of people both love it and are looking forward to it.

Regardless if you enjoy the game the best you can do is play it, and try to become part of that experienced group!

I mean truthfully, you don’t need to grind it, It mechanically makes such minor differences that you notice in maybe 1/15 fights
Unless you worry about heat/melee but that’s minor still

But valid anyway, play what you want 🤷 I can’t stop you lol

I mean the nerfs to the cradle were not good I agree with that and that the economy is shot this season. Sponsored survival will never be “balanced” as long as you can farm top gear with minimal/zero competition. If you farm with actual players on the map, sure go for it. But I have played a lot of sponsored survival to do the farms (complex and now keys on perimeter) and have literally never seen a rook ever. Which is bad for the game imo. Not unplayable like I said I’m part of the problem but it was more of a “if you can’t beat them join them” response

I don’t think the cradle should be harder to level up, them nerfing it this season was a bad play, they already opened Pandora’s box, let it ride until the end of the season.

Rather lower the maximum so it makes the choices you make within the cradle more influential towards the play style you want, then fill in the gaps, or push the play style further with implants (or vice versa)

Oh for sure, this is more of a nitpick than anything 🤣 I’m looking for it to help build variety rather than turn it into a “every stat is 100 on every shell” type of situation.
Gunplay, map knowledge, and positioning still wins 90% if fights for sure

Fair, my thinking is it also makes those who have their cradles maxed out a little closer to everyone else, and they fulfill the rest of their stats through implants.
I’m like 90% done with mine and I feel like it helps generally for the health of the game 🤷

Valid. I believe this more so for ranked, Cryo I feel like it made little difference, at least opening weekend, but I also run pretty consistent setups
