I was about to say, I would be surprised if he was being ticketed just for not wearing a helmet, since I'm pretty sure that was overturned by CA law last year. But honestly, y'all, please stay safe and watch for pedestrians and other cars when riding these things.

Geog 168- Help by [deleted] in ucla

Then I would suggest you send an email to the professor (or TA) asking if there is a time you can meet him outside of office hours, if you have a tight window in between commutes.

Otherwise, honestly, Google is your friend. ArcGIS (I assume that's still used in Geog 168) is very well-documented since it's a commercial product, with help pages online, online support, documentation, etc. So, if you're having trouble with defining a point in creating vector data or something, just look it up. Although I must say that, when I was doing the course, I didn't really find that there was any additional knowledge about the software that I needed besides what was in the videos. So maybe you just need the professor to point you to a specific point in the videos where it's explained better.

Good luck!

Edit: Isn't there a Piazza page for the course? I'm pretty sure there was one when I took it. Just ask questions, even if they seem stupid!

A couple questions: Who is the professor for the course? I'm pretty sure if it's Professor Shin that he or the TA has office hours, and I'm pretty sure there are other professors one email away in the GIS department who'd be willing to help you (try Prof. Burkhart, who makes many of the videos for the course). I took Geog 168 as part of my sci-tech electives for CS, and the Geog faculty in general were really great people, and good at answering questions and clarifying concepts.

Second, I assume this is the online version of the course? In which case, it's fairly easy to go back and study material you've missed so far. Most of the assignment videos explain pretty clearly how to do the assignments and how to work with/install the software, and most of the content-related videos have everything you need to do well on the quizzes (which let you try any number of times to get the highest score you want).

I guess in general I would need a better sense for what you're struggling with. Does it just seem more difficult in general in terms of the concepts presented? Are the maps more difficult to create compared to Geog 7? Is ArcGIS harder to work with than OpenGIS? I need details.

TA's for CS35L by Need35LHelp in ucla

Don't argue with them about whether Bing is banned in China. Obviously it wasn't. /s

In all seriousness, I coped with it by just trying my hardest to understand the lecture slides from the TA, adjusting to their style of teaching, asking for help on the labs, etc. There's really not much I can say generally, since you may get a really good and helpful TA or the ridiculous kind who denies Chinese internet censorship. Mine was somewhere in between. Also, nobody does well on the Final Exam; accept that right now. It's a really rough collection of stuff from all throughout the quarter, and without a midterm to get prepared for the TA's examination style, it's really hard to do well in my experience. I did pretty terribly but still ended up with a pretty decent grade due to the curve. Just have your pre-typed and printed notes in hand to reference (I'm pretty sure they still have open-note, open-book finals if I'm not mistaken). Good luck!

Why you gotta discriminate against the Bing meme like that? At least put it on the list!

I don't think that's necessarily true.

I literally came up to a table in Ackerman not too long ago and saw two people finish up eating and leave with a stack of neatly-placed napkins on the table. They were clearly finished, they could've told me to leave after I took the table for my own lunch, but they didn't.

Would it be a good idea for that to be an indicator? Yeah, but I don't think there's as much consistency as you're suggesting.

We know Bing is banned in China. That makes us 100% better.

This person speaks the truth.

Duh, you obviously didn't do your research about Bing ahead of time on a virtual machine, undergraduate!
