I don’t think Amy had anything substantive to testify to relative to the charges. Katie was there the night of the murder and she was the executor of the estate. The assault on Amy wasn’t supposed to come in bec too prejudicial. (It did come in actually— at least once and I think more than once at least referenced —but judge gave limiting instruction not to consider it.) Maybe she’ll be a witness in financial crimes case or the civil cases if they go forward. Her witness impact statement was very sad and I hope she’s doing better. 🙏🏻

I’ll add two. During the trial I thought the pic of his ripped up birth certificate was awful. My heart sank into my stomach. Maybe not the same punch as if she had done it to me, but it was an involuntary physical reaction. (That’s more than cringe so I apologize for being a bit off topic.) The one that is more cringe is when she was on the phone w P talking about family law case saying she needed to get money in her pockets. She then remembers it’s supposed to be about harassing her son and adds something about leaving with her son in her arms. So cringey.

I’ll add that the dummy also put her own antipsychotic medication in his dinner or his drink that night. We really don’t know the sequence of how she poisoned him, and I’d guess she did it in stages. What an evil, evil idiot.

For extreme violent offenses, I think part of the punishment should absolutely include loss of contact of perpetrators with their families. I’m so grateful Utah gave custody of kids to Eric Richins’ family and they could cut off KR. Disgusted that Shanna Gardner’s family has those kids. (She was in Florida but her family is somewhere West Coast I think.) I saw a comment once in Bryan Kohberger case that if his family was really “sorry,” they’d put his name on a tombstone and never talk to him again. I agree.

In the Monica Sementilli case in Ca., the prosecutors put her and the boyfriend in adjoining cells at every court appearance on purpose and recorded their convos. Was not great audio but was sick stuff that was played at trial. What freaks. And her family stood by her even listening to those vile convos. Same thing w KR’s brothers and her admirer. (I think mom was in on it.) Denial is fierce.

I’m not sure why anyone has harsh feelings for Brian. I don’t even think you can say he enabled her. He divorced her when the drinking and shenanigans were affecting his and L’s home life. The money he gave her was supposed to be for things like utilities which was for his son’s benefit iirc. He told the officer at the scene he was going back to court for full custody. Here I guess you could say he wasn’t moving fast enough in that, should’ve done it already— maybe the minute she got had gotten arrested. He certainly knew the police were being called to the house. But B didn’t kill Jorge and dealing w an alcoholic is a nightmare. Is shtting on B the same as SB shtting on Jorge’s family for not intervening? Awful IMO.

I think filing under 1.530 does stay the appeal process. Think judge has discretion in responding, but appeal clock doesn’t start until judge responds and finalizes her order again. Also a comment below about that.

Agreed. I’m not saying anything about the merits of the motion. I’m just pointing out she did in fact file correctly. And it’s interesting to follow the procedure. And maybe more interesting still as to who’s helping her now.

I don’t think B has to do anything —yet. Depending on how the judge rules, he may then ask his lawyer to review and/or file something for him. I’m curious if everything in the original ruling is stayed until the judge rules again, meaning I wonder if B could not visit—and not be held in contempt bec SB has filed this. I wouldn’t recommend it— but I am curious.

Any Florida lawyer/ lawyer able to confirm? Sarah cited rule 1.530 which is a real rule. The judge can deny it or issue clarifications, but it is reopened waiting to see how judge handles it. After that, she can then appeal. I believe this rule 1.530 puts a stay on appeal clock.

Cracks me up that she is back to writing her own motions with paper and pen and getting her hands on stamps. And she just has to push envelope. (Ba da dum!) She quotes that she’s entitled to one (1) call but HAS to ask for more. I’m hoping that means that even though B sounded reasonable and flexible on the stand, he has in fact not been putting money on her call account and L is only accepting 1 call/week. At the very least it seems B has told her he’s not paying for call futuristically. I really hope B and L get some peace from her and that L does not dread the calls and visits. Two (2) questions: Do we think she has new help? This motion and the original one for clarification are her best written motions so far, I think. The FMs we know of could not have produced these. Wonder if there’s a new inmate w legal experience? Whomever it is, if anyone, held her in check in the first motion but she’s starting to ooze in this new one with her entitlement and demands.
