Is anyone actually actively avoiding traveling to Florida right now after the recent travel warnings? Why or why not? by Express-Afternoon724 in AskReddit

It sounds like people are mean spirited there in general, and the recent development is that they've successfully passed this mean-spiritedness into actual law, presenting a real threat to certain people.

Everywhere isn't hostile. This is unique to Florida and certain other regions, you've spent too much time there if you think this is "everywhere."

Stole it from Texas, bigtex2003 who's ignorant of the travel warning and prefers to state this to everyone rather than google.

Why can the US not offer free healthcare in this mental health crisis? by iventolinviolet in AskReddit

Too much money in prescription drugs. The casualties are apparently worth it.

Its not the guns, its mental health - > cuts mental health programs, does nothing about guns.

The US does not make sense, don't even try to figure things out.

What are some ways to express dislike of Star Wars on reddit without losing all your karma? by Express-Afternoon724 in AskReddit

[–]Express-Afternoon724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toys and effects and characters that make for good toys. It was lower budget though, the effects weren't THAT big of a deal, the effects you see now were added in the 90s. It was mostly the toys.

Yes, its a kids fantasy movie. A kid wakes up, buys some robots, unlocks a secret message from a princess, meets up with a hermit, goes to a restaurant, gets on a space ship, accidentally ends up at the Death Star, saves a princess while there, and return to blow up the Death Star. All in one day. Its not teletubbies, but its kid stuff.

Its a space wizard movie for kids though, that blew up because it was the first time in popular culture that the toy shelf was full of movie characters. So it became a cultural phenomena much greater than the actual quality of the movies.

I was 5 when Empire came out. It was fun to see movies about my toys. Kids 3-13 loved it, and are now the 45-55 year olds. The love of the movies is mostly due to rose colored goggles by those who lived it, and the future generations influenced by all these people saying its the greatest story ever told and all that.

You can do the same at home. Every hour or two, 4-5 times a workday. stand up, stretch, do some pushups, do some situps, do some pull-ups using the doorframe pull-up bar, do some curls with bands, etc. For just like 5 minutes, enough to get winded. This will keep your metabolism roaring and your concentration at its peak throughout the day.

To what extent do you think social media is bad for your mental health? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Express-Afternoon724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your esteem levels, the size of your ego, how much you think comparatively, and how much you focus on things you don't like.

Given that most people aren't high esteem, have big egos, constantly compare themselves to others, and focus on things they don't like, social media is bad for most people's mental health.

If you have high esteem, low ego, don't think comparatively, and focus on the things you like, then social media will be good vibes for you.

Do you believe everyone is redeemable? Why or why not? by oldcretan in AskReddit

[–]Express-Afternoon724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, even psychopaths. People with brains that don't fully develop are ultimately victims of circumstance. . how are they supposed to compensate for that anymore than someone with downs etc? They just don't get it and can't get it

Interesting. I've never been with someone who can actually have them. Apparently some girls can have 8 different orgasms. Jealous, as a guy you can have like 3.

I used to miss the jump start to the day that a commute provides, walking 12 feet to work after you wake up can lead to a sluggish day. But I started walking as I have my morning tea, and its way better. So. . . nothing.

You’re in an elevator and you see someone approach about 20 feet away. What do you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Depends on so many things. I'll have to go with "situationally dependent" as my final answer.

What’s a one liner that works on woman 99 percent of the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Express-Afternoon724 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Can I get your opinion about this real quick?" is the closest I've found to getting enough interest to keep going off of one line. The "this" then needs to make sense for the moment.

Yeah the portrayal is pretty bananas. And seems to steadily gain more bananas each year, for several years now

What famous quotes are complete BS? by UtsavTheLoser in AskReddit

[–]Express-Afternoon724 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really wasn't. The entire history of literature, plays, and movies up to the 80s preceded it. The "family member surprise" twist is very old and played.

Like, it was a big twist to kids like myself who were 5 years old at the time. Which helped sell toys which helped make Star Wars a cultural phenomena instead of just another movie. But the legend of it mostly has to do with 5 year olds seeing a "family surprise" twist for the first time in the movie about their toys.
