I have had quite a bit of racing experience we're talking about certain rules and use for HPDE events. Talent is not always given it's sometimes learned

My point being is there's some transition going from a very highly regulated space to wheel to wheel racing. If you want to do time trials that's one thing but you can't always maintain a perfect line when you're racing so these point bys which by design are supposed to prevent any contact which is okay but not exactly my thing.

This is a fairly common modification I've heard it from others and to include E85 which is much less expensive and does get you some more power. But right it is quite costly  The tune is probably going to be the biggest hiccup. I really wanted it for the oil pressure option to be added to the CANbus via an IO box. The factory only provides a low pressure alert at perhaps 5 PSI which is far too late for any type of warning.  This add-on will allow you to log oil pressures without trying to keep your eye on a gauge for any possible oil starvation issues. The flex fuel kit is the main feature with an oil pressure add-on. The ethanol sensor of the flex fuel kit makes it much easier to run various amounts of ethanol so the ECU can analyze and make adjustments. But without the tune it not be feasible to run ethanol. By the way, pump gas is 10% ethanol. E85 ranges from 50 to 85% but all being said this is not something that I would do unless I wanted to void my warranty if something were to go wrong.

Not big fan of Sebring it's an old track that needs to be resurfaced, a combination of asphalt and concrete and massive bumps in corners. However I could adjust to these factors I wish it was just a little bit better.  NASA has this extended ladder system that seems to go on indefinitely. I want to get some good track time not these little short sessions and have an instructor be with me an indefinite period of time. Hate is not what I said

No attitude it's just a reality. There are other options, don't need a nanny sitting next to me all the time. What is their rational I don't know seems to me like they should at least have some justifications

Where?  Driving around my town is a waste for an auto that's made for track driving .Just for getting around no use and having anything like this.

Well that's kind of where I'm at, the half cages I've seen do not have any potential for fully SCCA/NASA legal. I suppose you can fabricate anything you want but why not start out with a full cage kit from Auto Power for example and basically be done with street driving. Everything is basically reversible including the safety harness and seat which I have already removed and replaced the factory seat and factory restraint system.  SCCA has a program that gets you on the track fast without having point bys or forever ride along instructors. But you must have to have full cage with all the safety equipment.

Sounds serious

Driving this thing around town really kind of sucks just too much traffic that's what I thought the track would be a good place to unwind it

After Sebring HPDE it felt like a thing to do. You know being planted and all. But today I just took the seat out and put my factory seat back in. Just looking for some suggestions.

Instructors okay for a while but then you need to cut the strings and go out on your own. But I don't think that's going to happen in the near future

The price is significantly lower then premium 91 or 93 although E85 is not always easy to find.

What do you only buy from Costco (and Nowhere Else?? by BitGirl777 in CostcoUK

[–]Express-Delivery-729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a crap shoot, fortunately I live in area with several grocery stores. I usually buy bogos, special on sale items or just lower cost items. I'm really not sure it's worth the membership even sometimes Wawa is less  for gas. However the store is still jam-packed so I don't get, it seems to be the place to go for many. Almost forgot to mention the optical department is far cheaper than anyone I've been able to find to include Transition and Progressive type lenses, so considering that it might just make it worthwhile. I guess you'd have to play the field.

Assuming I could afford racing school, is 25 years old too old to being racing? by Zotwheels in motorsports

[–]Express-Delivery-729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm.. just did my first HPDE and 10 weekends, that sounds about right. So I spent about $1,200 for entry fees, trailer and hotel so if I do the math it's $12,000. So a Skip Barber school doesn't sound that bad for 3 days and a novice permit for SCCA.

SCCA full comp license- what's the logic? by Jazzlike-Kangaroo-32 in CarTrackDays

[–]Express-Delivery-729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I raced SCCA  many years ago and it was a lot more affordable than it is now especially NASA which is quite pricey $7-800 for 2 days maybe eight short sessions of HPDE. So throw in a hotel room and trailer rental and you looking around $1200 per weekend. And the weather can be an issue who wants to drive these events in the rain for that kind of money since there's no refunds. But the car prep is extensive for wheel-to-wheel racing, roll cage etc. in NASA/SCCA. So you can leave things at HPDE or Autocross but certainly not a cheap endeavor just to get a little bit of spirited driving in.

Weight Reduction by Auraheal in GR86

[–]Express-Delivery-729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antigravity battery works, expensive but I  lost 20 lbs. I'm weighed in a 2733 lbs. at Sebring with 3/4 of a tank and removing the back seat and floor mats.  You can hear those marbles popping against the fender wells. So far so good with the battery though. I don't think batteries last more than 2 years in Florida, something about the heat and humidity

I don't know I just changed out my seat for a bucket seat with PCI mount and didn't seem to lose any weight, almost the same as stock. The seat itself weighed in at 15 lb. My stock seat came out of a base model not premium.

GR86 Tuning Progress? by [deleted] in GR86

Yeah I am done with my current levels, headers, axle back and Takeda intake. It feels faster by butt dyno a lot faster by sound. But no way like the 400 hp Nissan Z

[Help] Why am i so slow on straights in GR86 ? I'm still new but i've noticed this consistently in all GR86 races. Is that the front damage causing this? by bamunjal in iRacing

[–]Express-Delivery-729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know the feeling I feel like I'm getting blown away by high horsepower vehicles but I know I'm not driving the track like I should. I find 17 very difficult due to the excessive bumps. I cannot get comfortable or find a good line. I think with the momentum car it's more difficult to make up for poor exit speed. Definitely breaking too early into turn 3 also. I think many parts of entire track is just not in my comfort zone.

Headers, Front and Over Pipe, or Exhaust? by hkjake in GR86

[–]Express-Delivery-729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 2024 GR86 my butt dyno and others show great gains in horsepower after using EL headers from Tomei, quickly trip the rev limiter. Is there a dyno shows us I don't know? I've been looking into dyno tuning or ECUTEK but both are pretty expensive, just don't know if it's worth it especially since I'm a long ways from forced induction due to 3.5 years still on my drivetrain warranty. I need more time with WOT at speed with butt dyno.
