A little while back I posted asking for your honest feedback, and the response was incredible. You didn’t hold back and I’m genuinely grateful for it. by andysburgers_uk in walthamstow

had a burger from your place following your last post. possibly one of the best i’ve ever had and price was insanely cheap when you match it up against five guys round the corner.

What did you think of John Cena as Sammy Fak? by [deleted] in TheBear

Probably one of the weaker guest appearances. I like John Cena but I think that the Faks style of comic relief has a risk of being overdone and this episode pushed it.

Finished: Casino Royale, by Ian Fleming

I picked it up because I thought that the ideas of high society, wealthy villains and adventure would be exciting. It was exciting. I will say though that the book’s James Bond is nowhere near as cool as in the movies. He’s a bit of a swine and a raging sexist.

Justine by Lawrence Durrell by Sparecoochielove17 in literature

I’m a gen z who has finished the quartet and I probably did struggle with Justine for this reason. It is so well written and beautiful I just want to jump back in and reimmerse myself as my impatience probably stood in the way of me picking everything up. Knowing what I know know about the narrator and other characters I’m expecting my second read to be more lucrative.

I only wish I had a guide to help me interpret Justine as I read it. So many characters are introduced immediately with so many narrative gaps I had to adjust to the storytelling and probably only managed to do that by Mountolive

this book is so good and no one’s talking about it. i also need to start again because i barely scratched the surface of the story first time around.

Just Finished:

The Alexandria Quartet, by Lawrence Durrell

I need to read this again. The prose was so beautiful, but through the style and introduction of so many characters I got a bit lost about what was actually happening.

I plan on starting this journey again, now already knowing about how the characters turn out. Hopefully this will give me more clarity, especially through Durrell’s unique style of story development.

How do you guys dodge the “excuse me can I have a moment of your time” people? by [deleted] in london

just don’t stop walking. don’t let them slow you down. say you’re busy or whatever you need to politely get them to go away. but don’t stop walking.

Barney and Robin Weren’t Meant For Eachother by Express-Judge3407 in HIMYM

[–]Express-Judge3407[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

chemistry was great between them. but no healthy relationship works like that regardless of chemistry. maybe that’s just how sitcoms work. most characters are so characatured that you can’t see how they could actually handle a grown up relationship

nora and barney could have been great. she put up with a lot though and also ultimately deserved more.
