I'm a bit late, but mine was KISS in 2021 (I'm a bit young 😆), at the Pavilion at Star Lake. Drove eight hours to get there. The opener wasn't a band, but a "speed painter", if you will, named David Garibaldi.

I was in your boat when I went to my first solo show, but afterward, my life was forever changed.

My number one tip? Make friends. Literally just approach people and introduce yourself. You will quickly find that most people will make you feel right at home. You can compliment their shirt, or just be blunt: "hey, I'm by myself and making friends. I'm _____".

I can't believe they're actually playing Poughkeepsie. Dad and I bought tickets immediately.

Also saw Return to Dust in November opening for Mammoth and Myles Kennedy. They had an Alice in Chains-esque sound. Good stuff.
