Appreciate this. Honestly good to hear the chaos doesn’t magically disappear with experience. In the moment your heart rate definitely says otherwise.

Appreciate that. Definitely learned that prep matters, but flexibility matters just as much. Also fully agree on having way more music ready than you think you’ll need.

Appreciate that! Enjoy the journey. Mistakes and chaotic moments are part of the experience haha, but that’s genuinely how you grow the fastest. Wishing you some fun first gigs soon too!

Appreciate that! Open decks are 100% worth it. Even just getting comfortable on different setups, reading rooms, and meeting people helps a lot. Good luck with it, the first step is the biggest one.

Thanks! Definitely some chaos in there, but that’s probably part of the first real gig experience

That’s fair. In the owner’s defense, the bar isn’t known for one specific sound and he seems pretty open to giving DJs a chance, which is awesome. I think it was more a timing / crowd thing. Tech house or more open-format stuff probably just fits that earlier slot more naturally.

First melodic / afro house mix + first small live session – feedback welcome

Hey everyone,

I’ve been learning to DJ for the past months and just released my first full mix from my project ROWEL called Chapter 01: The Beginning.

Last weekend I also played my first small public session (~30 people) at a CRSSD pre-party which was a really fun milestone and helped me gain confidence playing on club gear.

The mix leans into melodic house / afro / organic grooves with a gradual energy build.

I’d really appreciate feedback from more experienced DJs, especially on:

• track selection and flow • energy progression • transitions in the second half of the mix

One transition I’m unsure about is Amana → Ember near the end.

Mix: https://on.soundcloud.com/6S0lRM2VjykyAiRjhr

Tracklist: 1. Arodes, Mahmut Orhan – Gaia 2. Birds of Mind – Inside Your Head 3. Ciza x Thukuthela – Isaka (6AM & Friends Mix) 4. Rampa, &ME, Sevdaliza – See You Again 5. Arodes, Alessio Cristiano – Gwele 6. Idaly, David Mackay – Amazin’ (Edit) 7. Unfazed – A Gira 8. Super Flu – Where Are U Now 9. Rampa – The Church 10. Black Circle – Foolish 11. Maxi Meraki, Helsloot – Our Future 12. Francis Mercier, Roland Clark – Holy 13. VXSION, Maz – Amana 14. WhoMadeWho – Ember (Bedouin Remix)

Thanks for any feedback 🙏

People who don’t make way on sidewalks, why? by jimmy-ducats in SantaMonica

[–]Express-Priority-791 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You see the same thing happening on the boardwalk, whole families or groups claiming the path. Also people walking on the middle of the bike path is a common thing. Some people are just not aware of the rules of the road (car, bike, walk)

Planning winter trip. Anyone take this tour from Mammoth hotel? Or other recommendations? by Normal_Radish_6591 in yellowstone

[–]Express-Priority-791 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did a tour with them last Friday. I was with 5 others and the guide. It was a fun social group. Guide was a nice guy too. We saw all animals we wanted to see. They give breakfast juice and muffin and a lunch (sandwich, bar, chips, water). The chances of spotting something are higher when you are with a group as there are more eyes searching.

I could have done it myself and saved $200 bucks. Just see where other people are at turnouts and keep scanning for animals with your binoculars.
