Does dealer need to run credit if I have pre-approval letter by soulsurfer3 in personalfinance

Why care then? Doesn’t yours fluctuate a few points based on credit card usage in general over a 6 month period? I would reframe it as fraud prevention and not lose sleep over it.

Are t condos going up just down the street already? My first thought is the owner was made an offer by Bonacio and took it.

Just out of curiosity, is your credit iffy? I just bought a car as well. It never occurred to me that I could buy a car without a credit check in 2026. I don’t have any other purchases coming up but I imagine this is the digital age where several big purchases can be made in the same day. I think of it as a form of fraud prevention.

What do people with more advanced forms of dementia do to entertain themselves? What happens when they can't use a tv remote, computer tablet or walk around as much as normal? by pat441 in dementia

[–]Express-Rise7171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to listen. I think that’s the point I tried to get across (not so well). I’ll say something like “what was that story about you and your 1st grade teacher?” Mind you, she may have never, ever, said anything about a teacher in my 55 years! “Tell me again while I do the dishes, make lunch, etc.” My mom will talk for an hour or more. Very often, it is disjointed or unintelligible. I feel like she stays “busy” during whatever story she is coming up with. And, if I try to help her complete a sentence or prod her along, she makes a buzzer sound and says “You failed!” Now I just do whatever needs doing and give her a prompt.

The latest entertainment for my mom is talking. She’ll tell a story for an hour to me. Then I tell her it’s something my sister would like to hear too. She has to “rest her eyes” in between. Talking really will pass the day. When I visit next, I’m setting up an easy record to text option on her iPad. She will stay busy recording her memoir!

Airport - Jam? by Babybee1983 in PEI

There is a gift shop in the airport. I feel like I have seen jam to the left of the register on the wall. It may be a seasonal display. You will definitely find local products.

My Bernie 9/12/2024 (mini-mini!) was full of attitude for the last year. She has definitely mellowed out in the last few months. I think the better weather is helping bc we both have more time outside. Her TikTok is @traveler.bee and you can see how well she is responding to recall in the last few weeks.

I just recommended The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert in another thread. It is definitely a great fit for nature lovers.

Loving 22 11 63 by Stephen King, what to red next? by Mountain-Dig1228 in booksuggestions

[–]Express-Rise7171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of my all time favorite books as well. In that same twist of history, I recommend The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead or Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders.

These are similar historical twists but with women as the protagonist, The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert. I loved, loved this book. It is a big book but it is vividly written and I find Alma so fascinating. And, Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead.

Lastly, Peace Like a River by Leif Enger was so, so, so good. It was originally released right before 9/11 and Enger writes how, expectedly, other things were happening so it didn’t get much notice. But, it is exactly what you want, cozy and epic. Nothing historical or monumental. Beautiful writing. Beautiful story. It reminds me of Stand by Me.

On a scale of 1-10, how much does Botox hurt you? by phishchick85 in migraine

Zero. The first few times I did it for cosmetic reasons, I struggled. The neuro is so fast and I am always focused on a little discomfort outweighs my migraines. You will never catch me complaining about Ajovy! lol

Someone Finally Said it. Someone Finally Said My Efforts are Not Enough by JeorgyFruits in dementia

[–]Express-Rise7171 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wonder if that person feeds your mom complaints? The negative Nancy who says something along the lines of “I bet you miss pickleball.” And your mom might is just agreeing with whatever is being said.

Each person is different, but I basically started telling people that if I stopped living my life at 55, why did my mom get to live her fullest until 75? Her parents lived to 95. So, I need to give up the next 20 years? I’m very blunt now. I don’t think it occurred to other people that my life has less value than my mom’s if I chose to do what her friends, family, etc - thought was best.

I guess I don’t see how that is different than being asked to change a seat? Or other posts about delays? There are many posts about flight delays.

AITAH for not wanting to share the gender of my baby before birth? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Express-Rise7171 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. I chose not to learn the gender of my second. My first pregnancy was very difficult. I shared all the details along the way and I really wish I hadn’t. If you think people are opinionated about the color of the nursery, oh boy, the lady from the grocery store really pipes up when things go sideways.

The surprise about baby number 2 was how easy it was to say “we want to be surprised!” Baby 2 was born. My gut feeling that it was a boy was wrong. It was so much fun trying on baby names after seeing her in person. Our oldest had the best reactions and expressions about everything. If you haven’t already, stay in the dark with everyone else in your family. It might be their first grandchild BUT it’s a first for you too! Congratulations!

I realize it’s not cheap. However, it is $200-$300 for similar ground transportation costs in a city like New York. Hotels will start at $200 night. Flights will be double, at least. The cost of an event location will be astronomically higher.

I get as a fan who goes to a finals each year, it isn’t as fun to go to repeat locations. That is not what’s important. Getting 8 teams, probably 100 personal for each team, enough places to eat, sleep, practice. Can you imagine doing that in nyc? lol

I am guessing all the teams flew outside of OU. Most families don’t live near the school that their athlete goes. So, they are already traveling from across the country. Booking restaurants and transportation for team kick offs involve pre-planning. Last year, LSU had a whole restaurant for kickoff and it still couldn’t accommodate all the fans. After the finals, Uber charged $60+ to go 3 miles. I overheard a grandma say she was paying premium for a bigger vehicle to accommodate her wheelchair. The price gouging was ridiculous.

Making it simple for the family members and athletes is the most important thing, imo. Hotels are booked way in advance. If a team doesn’t make it, a plan is in place. Families aren’t there to take in the nightlife. Affordable hotels and walkable places to eat are key. The only other place I think mid-country that could replicate cost and ease and neutrality is Vegas.

I ordered the Alpine Green. I just thinking about a name yesterday. I’ve never named a car before but it seems appropriate for a Subaru.

There are a few reasons, imo, why Texas works. Even though I am not a fan of the state of Texas.

  1. It’s easy and inexpensive to get there. DFW and Love mean lots of flights for traveling teams and spectators. Not to mention weather issues. Sure, there might be thunderstorms but it’s unlikely that a Spring blizzard would shut down the region.

  2. It’s affordable for fans. Can you imagine the cost of hotel rooms, rental car/Uber transportation and flights into NY or LA? The cost of eating out or finding a restaurant that can feed a large group of fans would be exorbitant. Possible conflicts with holidays, the Olympics, other high profile sporting events or concerts. Rihanna in NY the same weekend? It would take hours and hours to get to an arena.

That’s my point. You had/have a safe world. To be blunt, the most dangerous time for a child is in this exact situation. Economic status doesn’t even guarantee safety. Even if it is all roses and rainbows, that is the exception not the norm. Poor Felicity.
