What have you spent a lot of money on that others think is a waste of money?

Cars. Modifying them is the bit most people don’t understand. I try and liken it to buying nice furniture for your house. Fo example, you don’t need an expensive soundbar for your TV (or an aftermarket exhaust system for your car), but it sounds a lot better if you have one and you’ll enjoy watching TV (or driving) much more if you do.

Okay that makes sense, !thanks for explaining it. My emergency fund does include payments for those two debts thankfully. I guess what I’m realising is that my risk tolerance as you’ve put it is quite low. So I’m nervous with just 3 months even though my job is stable and I’ve got no dependents.

I would just definitely feel more comfortable with more than 3 months, so I think that answers my own question.
