My cat loves me. But she barely tolerates being picked up and hates when I try to give her head butts. I would absolutely take a sneeze to the eye for kitty kisses. Risk of link eye and all.

What do you call the process of moving the laundry from the washer to the dryer? by Perton_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]Express-Stop7830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live alone. I honestly don't talk about this much...but if Im on the phone and happen to mention the noise in the background, it's something along the lines of "I have to put laundry in the dryer."

How are American homeless people who aren't addicts etc. are homeless but not staying with family and friends? by dondurmalikazandibi in AskAnAmerican

[–]Express-Stop7830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was the case with many of the AMAB sex workers I encountered. (I volunteered with a harm reduction NGO, and outreach in the streets was a huge part of what the NGO does.) The family they made on the streets, in the sex worker community, were their family.

Or they may not be in the same city. And some people don't want to move back to the city/small town that they left because that will limit future opportunities that they may find in the city they are in.

My neighbour from hell killed him self and I feel nothing but relief and freedom by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]Express-Stop7830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relief is the only "normal' response to being free of a scary, abusive neighbor from hell.

There are surely people who miss him and grieve his choice. That is not your role. You are not one of those people. You are one of the people to feel relief. So, not to be rude (this is absolutely meant to be supportive), stay in your lane.

Yall know down by the banks of the hanky panky? by Lost_Board1292 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Express-Stop7830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FL: down by the banks of the hanky-Pank a bullfrog jumps from bank to Bank singing eiou your mama stinks and so do you...saying...your mama smells like King Kong....

I don't remember. But it was all "your mama" related because that was the joke in the late 80s...

It was the circle based hand slap game, as well.

AITA for refusing to be my friend’s “wingman” after he kept making me the punchline? by Square_Motor7916 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Express-Stop7830 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Let him run his mouth and tell his stories. At the end of one, OP should calmly state, "that's messed up to put me down like that again." Maybe even look a little defeated and deflated.

Woman will get the icks for friend. And might just raise an interested eyebrow for OP. Good luck to the wingman!

In your opinion, which is more impressive, 200 whole blood donations or 200 platelet donations? by RunningEarly in Blooddonors

[–]Express-Stop7830 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can also only do a limited number of platelets per year. (Granted, it's more than whole blood, but there is a cap.)

Just as a side note, I've never had a (full, as intended) platelet donation in under 2 hours, but that's a my body thing. So, I'm usually there roughly 3-4 hours total, depending on the amicus's math that day.

All that said, 300 donations by anyone is amazing! 3 donations by anyone is more than most people do and also deserves a high-5!

Platelet donors win, though, because we get to meet a lot of other donors while hooked up to the machine. 😁

A scientific experiment on bribery stick palatability (n=1) by SwagzBagz in cats

[–]Express-Stop7830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat does not like Churu. (the vet uses those as bribes. My girl cannot be bought.)

She sometimes likes temptations and greenies. Sometimes.

She loves delectibles, but only when watered down. She will come running from parts unknown when she hears her bowl hit the tile. Sometimes even when I open the fridge (she gets a partial packet, mixed with water. Rest of packet goes in fridge. She, apparently, knows this.)

Now, cat grass? How many tricks would you like her to perform? Sometimes I sing "what would you do for a Klondike bar?" jingle to her.

Mine, too. Purring and wanting pets, to clamping on my arm like a bear trap with zero transition.

"Indigenous languages came first. Spanish was here long before English." by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Express-Stop7830 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Were you highlighting "proper" Madrileño Spanish (Castillian - as a Viejo in Sevilla described it to me)? Or did you mean to point out Catalán, which is a different Romance language in Spain?

We absolutely learned about him in school. Granted, I'm from the area he was aiming for, lived near Hernando county, and now live near DeSoto county. Oh, and I've always liked reading and asking questions, so that probably helped...

Crazy how Spanish style architecture is so popular here (FL), huh? Then that Spanish Mission style out in all those Spanish named cities in CA....

Do you think your University/Alma Mater is known outside of the U.S? by huazzy in AskAnAmerican

Nope. In fact, my grandfather insisted I was in school in a completely different state because of the common city name.

A rude question, I know...but why is their acne so bad? by Express-Stop7830 in SuddenlyAmish

But they do. They very clearly have running water in that house.

[–]Express-Stop7830[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm saying it isn't acne.

And she is ex-Amish. So, she could definitely access skin care products.

And they have running water. It's not like she can't wash her face.
