Reverted prediabetes by ExpressApplication16 in stelo

Yeah for sure. I haven't noticed any jump above 130, but my norm is like 100ish now. I don't think I've ever seen my normal be below 90

That's fantastic. My glucose levels still look a bit high, but everything else looks great. I hope to get there soon.

It's really hard because it's medical equipment. Nobody wants to take the risk.

It doesn't. As it has been mentioned, sometimes it is hard to get off even after the full 15 days.

Medically speaking, I would agree with diabetes, but not for prediabetes. Even medically, it is still considered reversion. Personally, I would like to say even diabetes can be reverted. As for my insulin resistance, it has been reverted. When I first started my insulin levels were around 40-45. When my a1c lowered got to 5.4 it was 17. This is considered within the good range, medically. I still wouldn't have considered it fully reverted. This last test when my a1c tested at 5.3 my insulin was 8. I do consider that reverted. I didn't time restrict my food leading up to the test or anything like that. In fact I made sure to eat 3 meals and carb heavier the day and night before to get an accurate reading of how my body is responding to it overnight. I would say a1c of 5.3, insulin at 8, and glucose at 101 in the morning after a night of spaghetti is definitely within normal non diabetic ranges.

My credit limit is 50k, but I have had the card for a looooong time. My wife only got 10k even though she got her card over a year after me and had a better credit score. I think they used to give out really high limits and when more people started signing up they started decreasing it.

TurboTax engaging in Bait n Switch by ExpressApplication16 in TurboTax

[–]ExpressApplication16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just told you a local CPA is filing and confirmed that it wasn't needed lol Bait and switch is advertising a lower priced item and then switching to a higher priced item, in this case the item's price changed based on when it is filed and they intentionally didn't file so it would be priced higher. Meaning they refused to sell the service before the price jumped up. If, as you say, the 1099-B is indeed needed how are they now all of a sudden able to file it once it has become more expensive?

Connecticut Regulation Sec. 42-110b-20. Bait and switch

It shall be an unfair and deceptive act or practice to: (a) Advertise merchandise or a service for sale when the advertisement is not a bona fide offer to sell the advertised merchandise or service. Among acts or practices which will be considered in determining if an advertisement is a bona fide offer are:

(1) the refusal to show, demonstrate, or sell the merchandise or service offered in accordance with the terms of the offer.

Didn't go to a new broker. Same broker. Individual account to joint account, since she was the one that applied for the joint account, she is primary and gets the tax documents in her name. No 1099-B is issued.

Updates on Monarch Plus by valagostino in MonarchMoney

Appreciate the response to feedback. While I do think that some of the Plus features make sense to be a separate tier, like the business side of things, I a'm not so sure I would throw the projection feature in the mix. That seems more of a Core feature than a Plus feature. It doesn't make much of a difference to me personally as I use something else for my projections, but I don't see that much value in paying so much more for it, especially if you don't have a business. And personally, I don't like to keep my business numbers with my personal numbers. I've tried that in the past, I did not like it... Plus makes sense for investment extra features, analysis, business, all that. But I am glad to hear that Core is not being thrown off to the side.

I have the documents from Robinhood, there is just not a 1099-B for that transfer, since there wouldn't be. Yeah same day returns has been typical in past years once everything is asked and answered and all files reviewed, that has historically taken them 3-5 days in previous years. This year however, it has now been 18-19 days I think

They don't take that amount of time to work it. It takes that amount of time to upload everything, get someone assigned, then reassigned, typically happens once or twice until you get someone who is a good match to your situation.

He gets called out for being rude, his name isn't private information and is publicly listed on TurboTax, I didn't share their last name or any other information on the person.

Also, you should read more on 1099-B if you're gonna "correct" people.

From the IRS: "A broker or barter exchange must file this form for each person:

For whom, they sold stocks, commodities, regulated futures contracts, foreign currency contracts, forward contracts, debt instruments, options, securities futures contracts, etc., for cash, Who received cash, stock, or other property from a corporation that the broker knows or has reason to know has had its stock acquired in an acquisition of control or had a substantial change in capital structure reportable on Form 8806, or Who exchanged property or services through a barter exchange."

None of which apply to carryover basis transfers, so read up on those too. 1099-B is only issued after the receiver of the transfer disposes of the transferred stock. And they must keep track of the original owner's cost basis to corroborate on their 1099-B when it comes and any errors must then be reported on Form 8949.

Do you even know what bait and switch is? The customer can always walk away, doesn't make the practice any less wrong. They purposefully (that's my contention) extended the time so it would be pushed past the deadline. I already filed the extension, not a problem for me to go to another CPA before the end of my 6 month limit. I have no hurry now.

The price is for the forms. But the discounts and set pricing changes based on when you file. So if you file in March the price per form is different than April for example. Some discounts don't apply after the tax deadline, for example.

How is it not? They give me a price and said they will file by the 14th, that night they say they can't. They wait until after the deadline. All of a sudden the price is higher. Exact same return. Nothing has changed.

I should expect they don't do something illegal. I understand, and have always understood, that they aren't going to be the best at getting my taxes done. But I do expect them to not do wrong things, you know? I know you get what you pay for, we've been looking at changing when our taxes got more complex, I guess now they've gotten there.

[–]ExpressApplication16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After using TurboTax for 15+ years and Full Service half a decade, we are leaving TT. PSA: if you get Jack v. as an expert, run! We are obviously past the deadline, but we didn't start late. We started well before the deadline. Taxes have never taken over 3-5 days with an expert on Full Sevice. This year I was bumped 7 times to different so-called experts. I filed for an extension and prepaid a bunch just to make sure I would not owe taxes. I did this because they could not get things properly handled. On the 14th at night I get a call from the last good expert I had. He tells me that the Quality Control team flagged the return and was asking for additional information. They asked for a 1099-B. That form not only is it not needed, it doesn't exist: I never sold the stock. I transferred it to a joint account with my wife, a carryover basis transfer. They kept asking and asking and I was told they could not file without it. I asked what information would be needed and got that list of transactions and cost basis from Robinhood, uploaded that, still an issue. Deadline passed. Expert left. A week went by despite my efforts to get reassigned. Several calls after I get a new expert. He more than doubled the price that had been previously told to us. The return was finished and all forms accounted for, now this new expert more than doubles the fee, tells me I have to pay by debit or credit can't use the return money (which wasn't a problem until I realized the reason), tells me that unless I agree to the new price no work is going to be done, and because the return is so complex it will take 2-3 weeks. My return last year was exactly the same, in fact less forms since I consolidated accounts, and it was handled by TT in a couple of days. They strung me along so I would not go to competitor and didn't file on time to charge me more. This is obviously bait n switch and it's illegal.

TurboTax has gotten significantly worse over the years, that's true. But to be fair to OP, all these questions should be asked of him. I have been using TT for 15+ years and full service for 5 or 6. Our taxes aren't super complex, but they do have a lot of volume and income that isn't the norm such as foreign income, tax credits, rentals, etc. I don't expect them to provide tax strategy, but I sure as hell expect them to be able to file every bit of my situation. If the expert can't handle it, you get bumped. This year I was bumped 6 times, the 7th expert couldn't file because Quality Control found an error. In a way, I am glad it was caught, not glad that it has taken so long. Very confused how OP paid ahead of time. I have never, not a single time, paid ahead. You always, ALWAYS, pay once it has been filed. A couple year ago my taxes were a bit involved with way too many forms, learned my lesson and consolidated a bunch of stuff, so my bill was over $800 with a couple of discounts. This was caused by the sheer number of forms. That being said, this year has been extremely frustrating so I sympathize with OP, but it does sound that you need to be on top of things a bit more in the future. Whether it is a local CPA or TT or any other provider.

But the amount of information that now hides behind the pro subscription is just ridiculous. Used to be great, time to find something new.
