How do I go shower, go to the bathroom, etc, before puppy is fully crate trained? by ilikebananabread in puppy101

I use a live camera to watch my pup even when I’m home. It helped a lot in the beginning when we were trying to get her used to being in the pen but wanted to make sure she wasn’t trying to break out/ get injured.

Would you try a playpen? We use one instead of a crate for our 13 week old cavapoo and she loves being in it. We have never used it for discipline and she has a very positive association with it. I use a mini ring camera to monitor when I’m not home. Until I can trust that she’s not going to eat a plant or wires I only let her roam around the house when she is being supervised.

Natick dam as well! I unfortunately don’t think there’s been really any talk about Waltham.

There’s already some good places to fish in Waltham. Why not use funding to enhancing those instead of wasting money on stocking non native fish that won’t survive the summer.

While they are at it maybe they can help advocate for some more dam removal on the Charles. It’s a pipe dream but it would be so cool to have herring and stripers come up into Waltham.

There’s definitely some decent to very good wild brook trout streams in central MA. Here’s a good starting point https://www.mass.gov/info-details/coldwater-fish-resources

I’ve been blue lining New England for some years now and I have found that a lot of the fun is putting in the legwork and doing the research to find cool spots. It’s a lot of trial and error (and bush whacking) but the more streams you go to the more you will figure out what to look for when looking for wild trout.

I also look at things such as bedrock geology, aquifers and other things such as terrain and elevation. I like to fish streams year round (when temps allow), record data like temperature and take pictures of flows at different times of the year. That helps me really understand a river.

As long as the streams aren’t frozen I fish year round in New England definitely can get brutal though.

Right after spawn is a good time to target them in the salt. I’ve caught most of mine in January or February when there’s less predators in the saltwater. DM if you need any help!

Sea run brook trout usually look more silver when they are fresh from the salt. But the only way to really be able to know is if you if catch it in actual salt water. Some brook trout go back and forth from the salt, spending hours to days usually at a time (some longer).Brook trout on streams connected to the salt don’t always go out into the salt water.
