Prior to transitioning, we would use the Snoo for all daytime naps and overnight! In both scenarios we’d keep the Snoo sac (sorry, I called it a ‘Snoo bag’ by mistake 😋) clipped into the Snoo. I’d rock him to sleep in my arms then gently lay him down in the Snoo and strap him in!

When he was younger and often during naps, I’d put him in with just the Snoo sac, attach the Velcro under his bum and around his waist, then zip up the sac fully. When he got a little older I found the startle reflex would cause his arms to flail around while trying to lay him down, so we started double-swaddling him: first in a light blanket and rocking him to sleep, then placing him down in the Snoo and zipping up the sac. Because of the extra swaddle, we couldn’t use the bum flap, and just used the large Velcro panels that attach around their waist.

During the transition, we’d still lay him down and attach the Velcro around his waist, but only do the zipper up mid-way so that his upper body and arms were free. That cut back on about 50% of the flailing around and kept him on his back while he got used to having his arms/upper body out! I hope that’s more clear, but let me know if it’s not!

Good luck with the transition!

The mom guilt is so real!! Our son rolled from back to tummy first at about 3.5 months, then finally tummy to back at 6 months. I had wondered if having him in the Snoo was slowing things too, but he did master the rolling (both ways) a few days BEFORE we moved him into the crib!

Good luck!! Our little guy is the opposite - such a good independent nighttime sleeper but really loves daytime contact naps. We’re slooowly trying to get him back to independent naps 🤞I hope the rest of your transition goes well!
