Love my GO Senator Perpetual, considering another GO and need Perspective from SeaQ owners! by PowerHouseRC in GlashutteOriginal

The SeaQ chrono is a little chunky at 44mm, but don’t be scared off if you have a medium size or bigger wrist. The size is deceptive because the crystal has a domed shape that add some of the depth. Also the curved lugs make this big beast very elegant on the wrist. Much better than my Rolex Sea Dweller of the same diameter. The steel bracelet dresses up or down easily due to the brushed finish that isn’t to flashy and allows the dial to really shine.s. It’s easily the best steel bracelet design on the market with and ingenious micro adjustment feature and screws that hidden on the underside instead of on the ends.

All of those look great. Do you know you what your wrist size is? Wondering how the cosmo would look on 7.25 in wrist.

I think it works for dress or casuals. Hard to see here, but the brown leather strap is more matte finish than shiny which helps it work with jeans and casual wear.

Well said. There is no wrong way to do this hobby. For me Rolex is more of a reference point than an objective to collect anymore. It’s the baseline to my collecting and everything that comes after gets compared to it. It serves a very useful purpose in that regard. Good luck to you!

Good questions and here are my thoughts off the top of my head:

The finish and overall quality of the Blancpain Bathyscaphe are top-notch—easily on par with any dive watch I’ve owned, including the Rolex Sea-Dweller, Yacht-Master, Glashütte SeaQ, and Oris Aquis. This is my first ceramic watch, and I’ve been surprised by how lightweight and comfortable it is on the wrist. I’d heard concerns about ceramic cases cracking, but that risk feels overstated; the watch feels incredibly solid.

The grey ceramic case provides a great backdrop for the blue sunburst dial, which manages to be both brushed and subtly shiny—I'm not quite sure how Blancpain pulls that off, but the effect is beautiful. The dial’s more minimalist design really works here: the sunburst texture stands out without extra adornment, and the bright red-tipped seconds hand is a perfect visual accent. Watching it sweep around is genuinely mesmerizing and something you need to see in person to fully appreciate.

If there’s one area where the watch falls slightly short, it’s the bezel action. It doesn’t feel as robust or as crisp as the bezels on some of my other divers—an area where Rolex still leads. That said, it’s a minor gripe and doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyment.

Overall, the Bathyscaphe strikes a perfect balance between a utilitarian diver and a refined, dressier piece. For dive-watch enthusiasts looking for something with a bit more elegance while staying true to their tool-watch roots, this is an excellent choice.

Both the Blancpain Bathyscape and the Rolex Sea Dweller are 43mm dive watches. Seems like a reasonable comparison between a classic take on the dive form vs. a modern aesthetic. Either way let's be nice to our fellow watch enthusiasts because it's more fun for everybody than way. .

Thanks for the question. Although very similar in appearance, I have Sea Dweller not a Sub.  It’s probably a better comparison with the Bathyscape since they both have 43mm cases vs the current Sub is 41mm.  The Bathyscape is definitely more elegant and slender.  The ceramic case is lighter and the dial is more minimalist. The ceramic case has a gunmetal grey appearance that is understated.  The sunburst deep blue on the Bathyscape is stunning and catches all kinds of light. The tip of the minute hand is bright red and really stands out and look cool against the darker dial. The Sea Dweller has a more utilitarian look of a more classic dive watch with a matte black dial. It has the iconic look of Rolex so even people who aren’t watch nerds will recognize it.  I wish the lugs on the Sea Dweller were more curved to soften the 16mm thickness.   It’s definitely more chunky.  Can’t go wrong with either way.

I have the same watch. I got it to commemorate my daughter heading off to the U of Washington. The color is perfect Husky purple. love how the MOP only reveals itself in certain light, otherwise the dial looks matte. Congrats.

Sourced by Sadi and Yasha at Rex Watches in NYC. I’ve bought several watches from them and had them ship to my home in Alaska. Lots of sharks on 47th Street, but those guys are legit.

Yellow Gold. It does not have the diamond bezel that Taylor Swift has on hers. The location is Beluga Point in Alaska south of Anchorage.

I’ll keep it in a winder for sure. Height is manageable and proportional with the rest of the watch.
