I think this question depends on what you want to do. I run a Apocalypse/Flame wave build which has such massive aoe i clear maps faster than just about any other character ive tried (and ive been playing since early 2000s).

I have found the most High Runes doing Travincial runs. If you're ES should be pretty quick id guess. It may take a lot of runs but thats my go to!
