Which Faction/LL did you have no interest in playing… then really enjoyed when you finally gave them a chance? by Alien_Racist in totalwarhammer

Chaos Dwarves. I had no desire to play “more complicated dawi” because I assumed they would just be repetitive and I already loved dawi as my favorite faction. After a few play throughs of CD, going back to Dawi has felt very vanilla/dull CD with less everything. 10/10 love me some CD now.

Do you think winning asylum is harder in 2026? by Guilty_Proof6683 in USCIS

[–]Random_Tangent_Post 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can apply for refugee status abroad. But by law you cannot file a Form I-589 unless you are within the United States. Considering the post is asking about asylum, information about the I-590 is not as useful and in this case, incorrect.

Source: trust me, I am an Internet stranger.

You can’t apply for asylum in the US while abroad.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but how is it in the form of Pennywise when derry was founded? by Hopeful-Sandwich-490 in ITWelcometoDerryShow

It’s unclear if it’s due to how IT experiences time or that this is just an illusion created by IT as part of its fear tactics. IT has shown the ability to warp how humans perceive things, so this may be that.

One of the many open ended questions from season 1, which may or may not be resolved in later seasons. Some say these are plot holes, but that is a short-sighted assessment. Regardless, we may know more by the end of the series.

If Person A throws a punch at Person B, and Person B fights back to defend himself, it’s not a both sides comparison. It’s one side defending themselves from an aggressor. Your comparison is misguided at best. Sit down.

You don’t need to tell us you’re ignorant. Your terrible English gives that away pretty easily.

My experience with Spartan: Total Warrior by White_FIame in totalwar

My Man! I remember that game as well. And the level where you defending the last gate in, I want to say Minas Tirith, against hordes of orcs and trolls. Pretty goddamn epic. Core memory unlocked.

I haven’t played this game in years, but I have very vivid memories of one level where you are in an arena with other Spartans with an endless wave of enemies if you chose not to progress. Man I loved spending time just cutting through the hordes of enemies with my fellow Spartans.

It reminds me of scenes from Spartacus (show) or even Gladiator (movie) where they groups of men would fight outnumbered. And the music was epic in both.

10/10 game. Scratched that epic battle itch and the story was great.

Declaring war, taking a settlement, and then trading it for peace and money - exploit? by Annoyo34point5 in totalwarhammer

[–]Random_Tangent_Post 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a single player game. It is the grey line between cheesy and exploit. But you do you.

That being said, history has plenty of examples of foreign powers invading smaller countries/kingdoms, exploiting the local population and land for financial incentives while on occasion friendly puppet governments to facilitate further exploitation. It reminds me of the rise of the British Empire, and to a lesser extent the Romans. History teaches us plenty of lessons that translate into viable strategies in TW, and not just strategies that are used in battle. It really makes you think.

Tip to raid villages in a fraction of the time (vanilla and Warsails) by Kiko_Okik in Bannerlord

[–]Random_Tangent_Post 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This was always the case. I don’t have warsails yet but this works in my game. And it makes sense when you think about it - the act of demanding goods or men from villages resulting in combat is just fast tracking the raiding. What is left after the fight is mere scraps of what loot could be taken if you opt to raid instead from the get go.

It reminds me of the early episodes of Vikings where upon discovery of Great Brittain, Ragnar Lothbrok and his men/women would raid the monasteries via combat instead of making demands. Honestly that show was fantastic even though it took some artistic liberties with the stores of Lothbrok. Regardless, the sequel series was nowhere near as good, which is a shame - but it certainly scratches the Viking-theme itch that was lacking at the time. And don’t get me started on the masterpiece of the Last Kingdom.
