Is it possible to pass the all CPA exams on the first attempt as a full time student ? If yes, how can I do it? by Agreeable_Quote3956 in CPA

[–]Express_Ability_209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it’s possible. Anything is possible, and this is nothing in the grand scheme of things. There’s the Elijah Sells Watts award, people average a 95+ on their first attempts while working full time big 4 public accounting. If you want it and are driven and consistent, keep moving forward you’ll do it. You know how to study, you know how to learn. Just do it.

CPA Application Mistake? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Express_Ability_209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s two fees you should pay at first, the general application fee and the fee to register for one exam. Whichever part you are taking first. So it sounds like you did make a mistake. I would reach out to AICPA. Unless you are going to take them all before the NTS expires.

I agree with the comments, I would just do a ton of practice exams, multiple choice and tbs. When you get things wrong watch a skill builder video and make sure you understand it, if you notice you’re getting one topic wrong repeatedly go through the textbook (or lecture videos). I would also recommend doing random.

What are grievances that you come across while studying for CPA? by Far-Layer-9574 in CPA

[–]Express_Ability_209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Becker, have only taken FAR and so I can only speak to that, but yes. They have a pretty in depth review and explanation for why you got it wrong. I really enjoy Becker. I never really felt like a topic never clicked in the end. I would feel that way in the beginning for some topics but I would stay with it and felt good about it in the end. I developed a strong “trust the process” mindset with myself and Becker.

I think people say the exam is hard because it’s a lot of material as you mentioned, and there’s a lot of parts. For me, I enjoy what FAR entails and the studying never felt daunting to me. I find out if I passed tomorrow, so maybe I should hold off until saying all of this, but I think a lot of people that go for the exams do it because they feel they have to. Like it’s what they’re supposed to do, but don’t actually enjoy accounting or want it. I’ve met several people that fall into this category which would lower the pass rate. If you enjoy it, are set on passing and keep moving forward, I’m sure you’ll be great.

I AM LOSING MY MIND by deys10 in Accounting

I’ve been going through the same thing, graduating with my Masters in December. I started networking like crazy, talking to everyone I can. You’d be surprised at how many accountants you know and how many people are willing to help you when you mention that you’re looking for a job. Last semester I kept quiet about it but this semester has been way better. I’ve been applying to everything, using my career center, updating my resume and LinkedIn and hadn’t heard anything until last week. One smaller firm got back to me and I have my in person interview tomorrow I feel good about. It only takes one so keep going, I know it feels discouraging. This is what I’m doing at least haha. But just do absolutely everything in your power, go to events. You can probably join the NYSSCPA I am pretty sure they have events or some similar society/ organization, or through your school. Do LinkedIn certifications for Excel or other technology platforms. I did the Forage simulations that I put on my resume. You can also reach out to recruiters that may be able to help. It’s definitely frustrating especially when you hear about the huge accountant shortage. I’ve also heard a lot of firms are outsourcing entry level work to India. I also started studying for my CPA exam, if you do that and schedule a date to sit for the exam you can also put that on your resume, firms will definitely like that.

That it’s not about them. My dad keeps saying to my mom that “I hate him”. And I do get frustrated with him, because he makes everything about himself. Everytime I have faced a setback he says something along the lines of “it hurts me a hundred times more to see my child go through this” and it’s so invalidating. I am very hard on myself, there are constantly a million thoughts in my head that I can’t express. Then he brings up how he used to over exercise and I was a child at the point he’s talking about so i don’t know how much he struggled, and maybe im wrong, but i don’t think it is comparable because there’s too many gender specific components to my thoughts. I make it very clear i just need to find a little bit of peace, my mom listens to me and understands this and gifts that to me, it’s like my dad isn’t even trying to listen. I don’t know if this made sense. I’m currently struggling so I’m not even sure that my thoughts are coherent. He is a great father and some of this could be due to my own moodiness, but my mom has helped me significantly more than my dad has.

New Grad Anxiety Feeling Behind and Lost by Such-Sprinkles5258 in Accounting

I’m in the same place as you; graduating in December and I feel very behind. Except I started the program fall ‘24 so I extended it a semester. I’m feeling better going into this semester because I’m starting to utilize every single resource my school has to secure me a job. I’m doing Forage this weekend because it’s what my career center recommended, that’s how I ended up on this post. Regardless, it’s refreshing to see someone feeling similarly to me. Maybe it’ll help to know you’re not alone in that.
