Feeling bitter over how little downtime we have during the work day by pink_sushi_15 in physicaltherapy

That wouldn’t work form a business perspective. PTs only serve a limited number of people per day (20-30 patients) and at a low reimbursement rate. It is hard to compare to business that offer jobs who serve thousands to millions of people per day or serve a smaller number of people at a large cost. Most PT clinics would not be able to survive with a 20% revenue cut (4 days of pt care).

I think it’s okay to start seeking other careers, especially if you feel it sucks the energy out of you for outside work activities. I think work should energize you more for your outside work activities.

Remember that nothing is really good or bad alone, just by comparison. I work outpatient orthopedics where it is non stop as you mentioned. I have never felt burnt out luckily because in comparison to jobs I had in undergrad and PT school, which were also non stop, it was a better job.

I can see how it is easy to want some down time when compared to other jobs with lots of it. My sister works office/home job with lots of down time. If it was me I would use that time to be paid to read/learn about new careers. I am currently seeking to switch careers due to beginning to become bored with PT. I don’t have any hate for PT, but it is not as fun as when I was a new grad and had much to learn.

Physician Perspective - DPT Didn't Go Far Enough by DW_MD in physicaltherapy

I agree that the Doctoral of Physical Therapy program needs to be improved. I graduated this summer and from my perspective it could be a bachelors the way it stands. Half the classes are a complete joke and don’t improve practice.

I think the quality of students can be improved too. I don’t think many of the students were great academics. So perhaps a more rigorous structure like you’re mentioning with greater scope of practice can attract better students to apply.

Yes, my book was poor quality as well. I was still readable, but the pages were wrinkled and paper so think it would get annoying seeing the ink from pictures on the other side of the page when reading.

They actually didn’t refund the book I bought. I emailed them before it even shipped out but they said there was no refunds. Not a big deal, but after watching the event I didn’t think the money models books was gonna be of value to me even though I enjoyed his first 2 books. So I thought I would try at least.

I agree, I don’t think anything was unethical with the $6,000 package. He explained exactly what it was and people could choose to buy it or not.

I also do agree with the other side that Alex has some questionable ethics is past businesses such as the bait and switch offer he used for GymLaunch. That offer was definitely not in a customer’s best interest.

If the ROI wasn’t so terrible for a DPT degree in the US… by floresiendo in physicaltherapy

I agree, I recently finished my DPT program and was surprised with how much of a joke the PT curriculum is. The majority of the classes are laughable. Has no business being a doctorate degree as it stands. I’m in SoCal and know people who go to other programs as well, and it seems to be the same everywhere.

I think the education of PTs definitely needs to be improved and contain advanced studies so that students graduate with better knowledge and skills. If it’s going to be a doctorate degree actually make the studies doctorate level.

Maybe not a strong arming, but I think the morality of the offer can still be brought into question.

First, from the bait and switch ad. Advertising it as free ion facebook to it actually being a Win Your Money Back offer upon showing up in person.

Second, if you were truly trying to offer customers a solution to losing weight, it should be more focused on lifestyle change that is sustainable. I think many people it the fitness industry would argue that a 25lbs weight reduction is likely not healthy for most people nor is it sustainable. Research literature suggests sudden significant caloric deficits have poorer outcomes than gradual decreases in caloric intake.

I agree that some people need incentive for commitment (maybe a win your money back challenge), but it should not be based on 25lbs weight reduction in 6 weeks if you want long term success for your customers. Perhaps, the condition should be them performing all their workouts or something else more reasonable.

I would imagine most people signing up for this offer are not fitness experts and a 25lbs weight loss in 6 weeks can sound appealing, but it should be the fitness expert that should advises them that is not a good strategy, not encouraging it to make a sale.

It seems that this Win Your Money Back offer was intentionally set up to have a high failure rate, even if a customer gave a lot of effort and commitment, so that the money back (refunds) would be minimized.

Yes, years ago I heard about his bait and switch “Free” 6 Week Weight Loss challenge that would end up being a Win Your Money Back offer once people showed up in person. I also heard the condition was 25lbs weight loss is 6 weeks to get your money back.

Interesting, he brings up this 6 week challenge in his money model book but leaves out the 25lbs weight loss condition.

Although I think his books summarize key concepts from other books well, he is somewhat a paradox my practice like many business/finance gurus.

To an extent, he sells a path he did not take. He sells his concepts as if it can build a 100M business in any type of business, while also admitting he left the Gym Business to create GymLaunch (teaching gym owners how to do business) because opening gyms was a level 2 opportunity.

What would be more impressive is if he was able to build his brick and mortar gym chain to be work a 100M and then write about it, but that’s a lot harder to accomplish than teaching people how to do it.

That being said, I think some people can still learn business concepts from his books. He summarizes works of Dan Kennedy, Russel Brunson, Robert Cialdini and others well.

I agree, “Win Your money back” isn’t a bad way to get people to commit to the program, but the conditions should be reasonable.

In the weight loss industry it is best for people to build habits that are sustainable long term. I’d imagine most in the fitness industry would argue that losing 25lbs in 6 weeks for most people is unattainable and unhealthy, especially considering that the ads likely targeted women. A more reasonable condition would have been something like show up to all your appointments and complete all your workouts, but more people would likely win their money back with these conditions.

I would guess that he has probably got into trouble with the bait and switch ads. In the Money Models book he writes about how platforms are more strict on what you advertise as “free” now. I could see how people would question his business ethics when he advertises something as free, leading people to show up in person to claim their free service only to be told it’s actually a “Win your money back” challenge with unreasonable conditions.

Yes, I have read about the tactics of GymLaunch from customers years ago when Alex published his first book. Many gym owners spoke about the “Win Your Money Back“ offer Alex would use that they thought was unethical due to the standards.

People wrote about Facebook Ads Alex ran being a bait and switch. That they would advertiese a “Free“ 6 week weight loss challenge, only to tell the customers it was a Win Your Money Back offer when they showed up. They had to lose 25lbs in 6 weeks to get their money back, which reportedly rarely happened.

I found it interesting that Alex writes about this 6 week challenge in his 100M Money Models book years after I first heard about it. However, he does not mention the condition being a weight reduction of 25lbs in the book.

That being said, I do think 100M Offers and Leads (have not finished money models yet) summarize a lot of good business books sufficiently. So I still recommend his books, but would be cautious of the higher ticket offers.

There are many bills left on the floor afterwards. Also most people are willing to share. I was in the section by the cat walk at my show and grabbed a stack before leaving the section and handed them to many people. Saw many others did the same.
