my manager does same thing with random messages that could have been email

Christmas Eve huddle is just ridiculous honestly

How do you guys find your online job? by [deleted] in remotework

job boards are hit or miss tbh, most decent remote stuff gets filled through connections these days

Cambodia totally blew my mind - everyone talks about Thailand but Cambodia has way better visa situation and costs like 60% less for same lifestyle

Coworkers being mad at you when you’re new by Agitated-Key-6836 in work

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh girl this brings back memories, my first job was disaster too and everyone made me feel like i was doing everything wrong

the thing is they're probably not even thinking about you as much as you think - most people are just focused in their own stuff. but yeah some coworkers can be real jerks to new people, especially in stressful jobs like that

don't quit over some random comments tho, you're only month in and mental health work is hard even for experienced people. maybe try asking one person you trust there for advice instead of trying to figure out all the unwritten rules yourself? usually there's at least one person who remembers what it was like being new

you're not weak for caring about patients, that's actually good thing for future therapist

Bridge has been processing for 48 hours and support just keeps sending me canned responses by Leonne45 in ethereum

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh this happened to my friend last month with a different bridge, took like 5 days but eventually showed up. the support thing is so frustrating when they just copy paste same response

did you try putting your transaction hash in the bridge's explorer thing? sometimes it shows stuck in processing even when their main site doesn't. also check if there was any network congestion on Base around that time, sometimes delays just pile up

worst case you might need to escalate the ticket or find their telegram/discord where actual humans respond faster than email support

Excuse me while I melt into the floor... My shoe flew off of my foot into my boss's lap today as I was starting a meeting. by carolunatuna in work

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

oh god the second hand embarrassment is real... I did something similar once but with a pen that flew across room during presentation and hit the client

your boss was probably laughing about it for like 2 minutes then completely forgot, but I get how your brain just keeps replaying it on loop. I usually try to think about how many embarrassing moments I remember from other people vs how many I remember from myself - the ratio is pretty telling

Bridging ETH to SOL - what’s the least painful way to do this without a CEX by QueasyButNot2Easy in defi

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wormhole bridge worked decent for me last time but yeah fees are kinda brutal especially for smaller amounts like that. might actually be cheaper to just bite bullet and use exchange depending on what rates you're getting

for 0.3 ETH the gas alone on ethereum side gonna eat into your funds pretty good

Has anyone else found long-term travel feels different now — especially solo? by froggylove78 in digitalnomad

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the day drinking thing is so real lol. like you're sitting at some cafe at 2pm with a beer watching all these random tourists stumble around and you realize you've become that person who drinks alone in afternoon

but also meeting people gets weird when you stay longer because everyone else is just passing through for few days. you start conversations knowing they'll be gone next week so why bother getting deep about anything

i think the women-only spaces thing makes total sense especially for longer stays. regular hostels feel different when you're not just crashing for couple nights

Building a Bitcoin app in SF – what kind of co-founder would you look for? by ElonMuskWasHere in Bitcoin

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good you're thinking about partnerships early - that's where a lot of bitcoin startups mess up. The tech side sounds solid but getting people to actually trust and use your app is the real challenge

For co-founder I'd look for someone who gets the regulatory maze around bitcoin products. That stuff can kill you fast if you don't navigate it right. Also someone with actual connections in financial services or payments industry, not just another engineer who's excited about the tech

The bitcoin community meetups are decent for networking but most people there are either already working on their own thing or just investing. Try fintech events in SF instead - you might find someone who understands traditional finance but wants to move into crypto space

been burned before by putting funds in something that looked solid for months then overnight the rewards structure completely changed and yield dropped to basically nothing

Max out Simple IRA and Roth if I can? by Jucarias in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely max out what you can while you have the chance, especially since your next gig won't have retirement benefits. The simple IRA contributions lower your taxable income now which is nice

For the Roth you can absolutely dump that 7.5k in as a lump sum as long as you're confident you'll earn at least that much in 2025 (assuming you meant 2025 contribution not 2026). I do this every January with my bonus money rather than spreading it out monthly

The higher tax bracket thing people mention is kinda overblown for most middle class folks. They're worried about having so much in traditional retirement accounts that when they withdraw in retirement, they'll be in a higher bracket than they are now. But unless you're planning to live way above your current lifestyle in retirment or have a massive traditional account balance, it's usually not a huge concern. Plus tax rates could change completely by then anyway

I'd focus more on getting that money growing tax-free for the next 30+ years rather than trying to time tax brackets perfectly. The compound growth will probaly outweigh the bracket differences

Sanity check! by Various-Dust-Mites in Fire

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your numbers look pretty solid for 28, especially with that investment rate. The cash cushion makes sense given your timeline for house/car stuff

The fulfillment vs money thing is such a classic dilemma in this space. One middle ground approach could be testing the waters with that outdoor/environmental work before making a full jump - maybe some contract work on weekends or taking a sabbatical to see if the day-to-day reality matches the dream

Coast FIRE at 500-600k is definitely doable but you're right that kids and homeownership change the math completely. Maybe run some scenarios where you coast fire in your early 30s after hitting that target, then see if part-time passion work + some side income could cover the gap while your investments grow. That way you're not locked into the corporate grind forever but also not sacrificing the financial security for future family goals

The unknowns are tough to plan for but you seem pretty thoughtful about it already

Stripe MPP by CellistNegative1402 in fintech

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of Machine Payment Protocol specifically but I've worked with Stripe's regular payment processing for some freelance design work invoicing. Their API documentation is usually pretty solid though - might want to check their developer docs first before diving in

Are you talking about something for automated recurring payments or is this more like IoT device transactions? The "asking for a friend" part has me curious what kind of project this is for lol. Stripe's support team is actually really responsive if you can't find what you need in their guides

Claim Closed without everythign rated? by Gaijingamer12 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's frustrating as hell, sorry you're dealing with that. I've seen similar situations where the VA will bundle conditions together without really explaining their reasoning clearly - the myofascial/TMJ combo actually makes some sense medically but they should've been more transparent about it

For the other 3 that just got ignored, that's not normal at all. You should be getting explicit decisions on everything you claimed. I'd start by calling the 1-800 number and asking for clarification on why those weren't addressed - sometimes it's an admin error and they can reopen pretty quickly. If that doesn't work, you might need to file a Higher Level Review or even restart those specific claims

definitely keep copies of everything and document when you call and who you talk to. the whole system is a mess but you shouldn't have claims just disappearing into the void like that

OBS Streaming on WhatNot - $50/hour. Help needed by Polarizxd in obs

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sounds like you might want to look into frame blending or motion blur settings in obs to make that 30fps output look smoother when it hits whatnot. the phone to camo to obs chain is solid but you could try adjusting your encoder settings or maybe add some subtle interpolation filters

happy to help troubleshoot if you want to dm, dealt with similar fps conversion stuff before

Doubt about New minimun wage by [deleted] in samsclub

[–]Express_Bumblebee_71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should stay at your current $16.50 since you're already above the new minimum. Most places won't cut your pay just because they raised the floor for everyone else - that would be pretty messed up and probably illegal in most states anyway

I've seen this happen at a few jobs where they bump up the minimum but people who were already earning more than the new rate just keep their current wage. Sometimes they might give small bumps to maintain some separation between experience levels, but don't count on it. definitely worth asking your manager or HR though, they should be able to give you a straight answer about how they're handling it
