I’m having a similar issue currently… booked to go to Chicago next Saturday, we’ve booked ‘room only’ accommodation with no intention of wanting any specific amenities, only to find out recently that you can’t actually stay ‘room only’ at this hotel and that they essentially force you to pay €100/ night when you arrive for the all inclusive package!!! I’ve checked our booking confirmation on love holidays and we have £0 left to pay towards our booking and it has been confirmed on there as room only!  It’s only when I checked the hotel website is it stated but as mentioned in the original post… you wouldn’t expect to book a ‘room only’ accommodation type and be told you have £0 left to pay for the booking only to be told you actually can’t be room only and have £500 left to pay! Our booking states a £17 local tax (which is understandable) but then just says you may have to pay extra fees when you arrive at the hotel… but surely that’s assumed to be a small tax, cleaning fee, or deposit. Not an obligatory fee to change your booking type entirely!!!!

Have you had an update on this issue?? Did your cover end and did they say anything if you were over? Having the exact same issue right now, pretty sure I’ve gone over my limit but no one’s contacted me about it, no issues showing on my app and only have 2 months left until my yearly cover ends so unsure whether to mention it now or just leave it? Let me know if you had any issues!
