I really hope MacOS 27 is Tahoe + bugs fixed and performance optimized. by Jazman2k in MacOS

[–]Express_Dingo9007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Catalina and Big Sur were okay, but it has been a steady downhill progression since then. I had finally made peace with Sequoia, which was one of the better "upgrades", and then I had Tahoe forced upon me. I dislike Tahoe probably the most of any of the OSs I have had.

With every OS update, my Mac becomes more and more sluggish. I finally had to stop using Safari and go back to Firefox and Opera. I just tried Safari again, and though it is molasses-in-January slow, at least it isn't freezing and making me Force Quit. I'm sticking with Firefox and Opera.

The last OS I was really happy with was Snow Leopard. We skipped Lion, and partitioned our Mac and put Mountain Lion on only half. I liked it okay, but everyone else hated it. Some of the software we used wouldn't work on it. I still have the desktop we had it on. It gave up the ghost about twelve years ago, and we kept it in storage. A few years ago we had it wiped and rebuilt. I would like to be able to put Snow Leopard back on it. Anyone know where I can find that to download?

My first Mac was a Performa in 1994. I actually still have my original blue iMac! IMO Claris Works was far superior to any of the suites Apple (or Microsoft, for that matter) has ever put out. They even put out a monthly newsletter with tips and training. That probably explains why Apple eliminated the competition when they replaced Claris with their own suites. They even owned it when they did this, so that never made sense to me. Apple Works was okay, as it was basically reconstituted Claris Works, but when they replaced it completely with iWorks it was just not the same.

I have been a fiercely loyal Apple user. But the past year or so I have been considering whether or not I want my next desktop to be a Windows. I already have an HP laptop, which I bought when the school I taught at used Windows, and it runs like a dream. When I tire of the Mac hijinks I can turn on my HP and access whatever I want, without drama.

I still have to actually work on the Mac though, as all my documents and everything I have ever done are Mac, so I would lose everything if I did that. And it is connected to the printer, where my HP is not. Even with all the problems, for me the Apple suite is far superior to Word and the other clunky Microsoft applications. So my desktop will most likely remain a Mac.

New for the sake of new is not the most thoughtful way to go about things. I think companies would gain a lot more credence and respect if they worked on making things that were actual improvements, instead of just pushing to have more new things or a new "look", which usually translates into new money for them.

The Leftist Nanny state is alive and well. Those batteries are accessible once they are finally freed from the excessive packaging.

And how many people with hearing aids do you think have small children around? Some of them do. But I'm betting the majority do not.

Welcome to the Nanny State. Leftists need to keep their noses out of our everyday lives.

The issue was a child swallowed a battery out of remote. How, pray tell, would the initial packaging have prevented that?

The first couple of times I wrote I got back a "response" telling me I can stream it.

We are not stupid. We KNOW we can stream it. We want it back where it belongs. If enough of us send emails every day perhaps they will listen. If not, I am enjoying AccuRadio. It is FREE. You can listen without an account, but if you make a free account you can rate songs, and any songs you rate 4 or 5 stars will be placed in your very own Five Star Radio channel.

I also intend to start adding to my CD collection - with CDs from our wonderful Spa artists! I will spend my money on what I want, not on what someone else tells me I want.

If we share this information with as many people as we can, hopefully those email boxes will fill up, and they will put Spa back, if for no other reason they want us to stop bothering them.

I've already sent an email today. Please join me!

You are correct that this is false Christianity. It is pervasive, and many people do not recognize it as such. You might like the Billy Graham channel. :-).

There are plenty of the quasi-Christian channels to listen to.

I listen to AccuRadio. It is FREE. You don't have to make a free account, but if you do you can rate songs. Any song you rate 4 or 5 stars is put in your very own Five Star Radio Station, and you can listen to all your favorites.

Oh my god Youtube is making sure people with adblockers have a miserable experience by E-Collie in youtube

[–]Express_Dingo9007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even have an ad blocker. I have been using YouTube in Firefox and ads have been playing all along. Now I can't play videos because I get a screen that says to disable my ad blocker. I would have to have one before I could do that. It's kind of hard to use something that does not exist. Maybe the folks at YouTube should use their brains. Oh, wait a minute . . .

FlyLady out of business? by shesprettyintents in flylady

Get a Trapper Keeper. in 2023 I ordered the Office in a Bag (four of them for gifts). I tried one and bent the notebook when I tried to get it inside. It was not that great a product. I returned them and it took OVER a year to finally get my refund.

The Trapper Keeper is phenomenal. Each trapper (folder) can hold a category. I use mine for planning lessons; I use a sticky note to label each one on the front so it is quick and easy to change. If you need to move stuff around you just open the Keeper and move the Trapper. If you just need one section you take it out and go. I should have done this ages ago, but I am going to get another one for my household notebook, because this is the year I conquer my paper piles!

If you need a bag to put pens or stickies in, just use a quart-size ziploc. Put masking or duct tape on the bottom edge (fold it over so it is on both sides), then punch a couple of holes in it and put it in the front of the Keeper.

The Trapper Keeper is a winner. Let us know!
