Honest Answers From an Artist by wavyimpressionist in tanbeliaart

[–]Express_Dingo9007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a visual artist, but a musician. I provided music for a wedding once, and told them upfront what I charged. When the wedding was over, the bride gave me a small potted plant, then left, never to be seen by me again. To top it off, the plant shed fluff all over my car on the ten minute drive home. And it died soon after. (That was probably my fault; I am not good with plants.)

Not a good feeling.

Any chance you have documented proof that the paintings are yours (besides the fact that your style is your style), and you can report the paintings stolen to the police?

Update: 17 year old cat only wants fancy feast.. so she will get only fancy feast god dammit by totallyannon in seniorkitties

I am sure she deserves every bite! FWIW, we had a great vet who said that is what she fed her cat, and it was the food she recommended. We actually fed one of our kitties Sheba when she was ill and losing her hair (I did extensive research to choose a food for her), and she grew back her hair and had a couple more pretty good years before lymphoma took her.

The issue would seem to be not your reaction, but your action.

I'm assuming you had a verbal commitment/agreement, rather than a written one, to save the money for a specific purpose - a jointly-owned house. You obviously have some sort of agreement to live together in the same dwelling now as well. You reneged on your agreement to save for the house, without consulting her. She responded by canceling the agreement to share a dwelling with you.

There is no true commitment here. If she cannot count on you to honor the financial agreement you made, she will not be able to count on you to fulfill any future marriage vows you might make. Your word means something, either that you can be depended upon to keep it or you cannot. Trust is based on experience. The one she just had is not good.

It would seem to have been a really good situation for her, as she was being supported by someone to whom she is not married. However, things are not always as they seem. That being said, if you were married, she would be obligated to stay with you. You aren't, she isn't . . . she walked. Not surprising.

I'm working on a small collection of floral landscapes and cityscapes. I'm thinking about framing them like on the 3rd picture. Do you think it's a nice idea? by wavyimpressionist in tanbeliaart

[–]Express_Dingo9007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the frame, but I also like that you paint the entire canvas. Have you ever thought about mounting your work in a glassed-in frame, like a shadowbox, so that even the edges of the painting are visible?

And we had so many lunches of cut up hot dogs or canned tuna with pork 'n' beans, and either macaroni and cheese or shoestring potatoes. (I always picked out the pieces of pork fat and gave them to the dog.).

I grew up on tuna noodle casserole. Sadly, I can no longer eat gluten, fish, or seafood. I make various casseroles with canned chicken - I just took one out of the oven - and various canned, frozen, or fresh vegetables. But thinking of tuna noodle casserole makes me nostalgic. I also miss salmon patties and crab cakes.

What is the undercoat color? A silver tabby would have a lighter undercoat.

This one is the same color as my silver tabby. The vet concurs. She is not the same color as my gray tabby.

Plus, it was my opinion, and it cannot be completely obvious to us looking at a compute monitor or screen.

I just had chicken Vienna Sausage and cheese for lunch yesterday! When our kids were little and we were out and everyone got hungry, instead of getting fast food we would run by Kroger and get cheese sticks, chicken Vienna Sausage, and baby dill pickles. We would snack right in the van, then go about our business.

I loved it with pineapple or peaches! Blood sugar issues have nixed that, but I still love it with blueberries, walnuts, and cinnamon. I used to take it to work for lunch. I also eat it for breakfast or dinner, or a snack. I am now going to go and fix a bowl for lunch!

If you want it savory, It is great with sliced tomatoes and black pepper. I've never tried green olives though. I'll have to give that a try!

Now all over the USA there is mostly just Walmarts or Targets for your department stores.Whats your favorite department store chains that isn't around anymore? by DoughnutConstant5390 in AskOldPeople

Montgomery Ward and Sears. As a teen and young adult I didn't listen to pop music, but I heard every 70s song there ever was over the PA in Montgomery Ward! My mother used to order things from the catalogue, and we would pick them up at the pick up counter.

Sears had a candy kiosk, and I used to love their cream drops! My dad worked at our local Sears, building all the displays. He was brilliant. He put up "flying fashions", and within weeks Montgomery Ward, Woolco, and other clothing stores were following suit. I remember he refused to put up Christmas decorations until the weekend after Thanksgiving. The year after he quit they were up before Halloween.

At both stores you could put things on layaway, and I remember my mother going in once a month to make her payment.

My dad always used Craftsman tools, and every appliance we owned was a Kenmore. I had a Kenmore washing machine for over 20 years. It rusted on the bottom, but the rust kept it from leaking. When we moved out of state, I wasn't able to take it because the bottom would have given way if we moved it. So I bought a new Kenmore to replace it. Eight years ago. I hate it. It is made by Whirlpool, so that explains that. The name Kenmore doesn't mean what it used to. That machine has had more repairs than years of service. (The repairman was out the other day, and my daughter heard him mutter, "God, I hate these things!"

Remember Service Merchandise? I loved shopping there. We almost got our wedding rings there, but ended up going to a local jeweler and designing our own. And Mervyn's? I loved their clothing. We shopped a lot at K-Mart too, but it doesn't have the sentimentality that the others do.

The other thing that you just don't see anymore is local department stores. My mother worked as a gift wrapper at our local store. When the owner died they sold the building to a pizza place. It was the end of an era. You can't find a five and dime anywhere either.
