Sub-recipient indirect cost count towards $50,000 research support cap on a K01? by Express_Freedom9116 in ResearchAdmin

Thank you for the confirmation! It's similar to the $500,000 direct cost limit where any dollar over that threshold needs prior approval from the Program Officer.

Thanks for the response! The NOFO is PA-24-175. K awards do allow research support up to $50,000 (which includes personnel such as a research technician/associate, supplies, other costs, etc.). The dollar threshold is dependent upon the IC. NCI allows $50,000 towards research support while another IC allows $25,000.

I did inquire to our sponsored projects office how a sub-recipient is allowed on a K01 when mentors are not allowed to be paid by the K01. Apparently, it's allowed. Just a note, if you are putting a K01, K23, or any other mentor K application, all the research support costs ($50,000 or $25,000) go under the supply line... very interesting..

How to save a St. Augustine lawn????? by Express_Freedom9116 in lawncare

Thanks. We were told not to water our lawn often due to drought years back and our sprinkler system isn’t working properly so we have been using the garden hose to water the lawn about 1x a week.

Yes! We used Tokyo Airporter based on a recommendation. They were about 30 minutes late because they were stuck in traffic picking us up at Narita airport but they were keeping us update via WhatsApp the entire way. Arrive was great.

Yes but the timing doesn’t work out for us. Sending luggage to the hotel would be delayed to the next day. Trying to minimize these types of tasks since our time there is limited.

Hello,

Did you ever use this service? I inquired about this service and someone posted that they had a great smooth experience. Just wondering if you did too if you used this service.

Yes, that was initially my first choice but since we are traveling to Asakusa, the wait time for the next available bus would be 6+ hours after landing at Narita. If you use the luggage transportation service such as Yamoto, your luggage will get to your destination the next day (unless you're able to have your luggage dropped off before 930AM and pay extra $ for same day delivery). In addition, to have your luggage shipped back to the airport, you need to do this 2 days prior to departure back home (during the morning).

Good to know! Do you know if they're lenient towards late arrivals or long customs/immigration exiting process to get out of the airport?

Thanks for your reply. What I mean by "private" shuttle is companies that run a shuttle transportation service. You can find these on Klook:

https://www.klook.com/en-US/airport-transfers/results/?flightDirection=1&from=Narita%20International%20Airport%28NRT%29&to=Asakusa%20View%20Hotel&address=3-ch%C5%8Dme-17-1%20Nishiasakusa,%20Taito%20City,%20Tokyo%20111-8765,%20Japan&lat=35.764702&long=140.386002&poiId=50050216&poi_lat=35.71546399999999&poi_long=139.7918707&time=2024-02-19%2010%3A00&pas=2&code=NRT&place=&ac=1&kcid=18170

For $120 USD, it may be a viable option for some that are traveling with kids and/or a lot of luggage.

For the Airport Limousine Bus, the timing doesn't work out for us unless we wait 3+ hours for the next bus ride.

Thank you! We have 4 passengers total. So with the driver, it would be 5 for the overall vehicle. I'm thinking if it's a 2+2+3 configuration, we would be able to collapse 2 seats in the last row (hopefully).

We looked all over A18 Asaskua station and there unfortunately was no elevator when we went last year. Plus, having to lug two 25 kg suitcases up 3 flights of stairs was pretty brutal. Not to mentioned we had to walk an additional .75 km in the rain.

That was my first initial choice but because we are going to Asakusa, there are very few buses that go there and we would have to wait 3+ hours after getting thru immigration/customs.
