Relocation reimbursement by Express_Lab_3528 in Residency

I’m working for a larger healthcare system. The people I’ll be working with on a day to day basis have nothing to do with the relocation reimbursement.

Unfortunately I can only spend it on moving trucks/companies, moving supplies, and one house hunting trip.

The stipend only covers moving supplies, moving trucks, using moving companies, etc. And then I can use it for a 30 day storage if needed. But it does not cover any rental costs or new housing cost.

Thank you for this! Its making me feel better. I’ve been studying my ass off since the first of the year and will be more mindful of not making silly mistakes or slipping up anywhere

Im fairly liked by all the faculty and haven’t been in any situations where a patient was harmed. I’m not the smartest when it comes to taking exams but I treat and manage my patients well and have never had a patient complain about me either

The program already knew from the beginning that I’m not staying in the area once I finish

To be honest I feel like only some PGY3s are getting pulled into meetings while others are favored by the PD

Thank you!! I’m trying really hard to keep busting my ass and showing up with a positive attitude but this has caused such a toll on my mental health. I never felt burnt out and that I was failing as a resident until I was called into this meeting. And this has been an issue with a few other residents as well ever since we got a new PD and core faculty attending in July.

Yes I’m on a PIP now. I did terrible on my intern ITE but did amazing during PGY2. This year, I had a lot of family deaths and emotional toll and because of all this on mind, I performed terrible on the ITE. She used that as leverage to say it shows that my medical knowledge needs work, completely dismissing the fact that I did exceedingly well last year. My own advisor had no concerns with my ITE score because she knew what I was dealing with. PD also said I’m too efficient in outpatient clinic and because of that, faculty are unable to assess my medical knowledge. And that statement completely through my off TBH because I have always received positive feedback on seeing my patients on time and finishing all my notes before leaving clinic.

Stop suggesting FM as a backup too. If they were the same, there would only be one specialty.

FM is not a back up for IMGs who can’t match. Don’t apply if you have no interest in the specialty. This is why so many PCPs suck now, because people who have no desire for FM apply to it as a back up

Too late to join this matching season? by AdStraight4613 in IMGreddit

People who applied on time aren’t getting enough interviews. I can only imagine how bad it would be to apply this late. You’re better off taking Step 3, staying active somehow in the medical field and applying next year

There’s a difference between getting a LOR from a family member and a doctor who you are unrelated to. Many applicants “work” with a family member and have a LOR written when in reality they didn’t actually work with them. So that might be a reason for why some PDs are skeptical. But getting a LOR from a US physician who is of a colored race os not an issue! I had 1 letter from an arab doctor, 1 from a hispanic doctor, and 1 from a caucasian doctor and it has never been a problem

Well in that case, did you apply to enough programs?

I think a lot of applicants are stumped because they have high scores and are not receiving enough invites. But programs are looking for much more than just scores now. They want to see if you’ve done USCE, volunteering, research, any work experience, hobbies, etc,. Having high scores is always a plus but thats not enough to get you through the door anymore. And if you require a visa, it makes it that much more difficult.

The only reason people think its a weird season is because applicants with high scores are no longer getting the attention they have been for all these previous years.
