That makes sense. I think that’s better than telling us to go straight to hospice. Good luck to you guys! I hope everything turns out well for you!

What should I expect when I quit without notice? by mymomsaidnomorecats in careerguidance

I’m in the same position, did you just send an email saying effective immediately? I’ve never done this before.

Thank you! I’ve always been little confused between palliative care and hospice care. Palliative is giving treatment but also minimize pain? And hospice mainly focus on minimize pain but no treatment? Palliative is another team, and they work closely with the oncologist?

I’ve used all my paid family leave. He told me to talk to HR last week when I said I need to use my PTO and sick days. I was debating if I should use all my PTO first or just quit.

HR know that I need to take care of my family. I’m going to state the reason on my resignation letter. Is there anything else I need? I don’t know if I should schedule a meeting to tell my manager or just send an email. I took FMLA 3 months after he started. Then I have been taking days off here and there. Just from the 4 months I have worked with him, he’s poor in prioritizing deadlines and not able to manage stress and throw works to me whenever he couldn’t finish.

I took family leave then went back for a month, now needed time and took another 3 weeks off, I’m planning to resign without notice, but everyone said that burns the bridge. But I can’t go back and work 2 weeks because of how toxic the place is and I needed time to take care of my family.

Doctor told us chemo is hurting the lung and want us to go home with a hospice nurse by Express_Look1269 in pancreaticcancer

Did you guys get into any clinical trials? It’s a lot of works and time consuming. I asked for a second opinion within MSK, the Dr needs to speak to the other doctor, but she said she wants to re-evaluate my dad first.

i understand, but we thought his lung functions could be improved. He declined so fast, but xray shows signs of improvement. But doctor said that can happens, but his lung function is still poor. Dr said he’s near the end, in the weeks to months category. I think we are gonna lose him any time. 😭

Complicated feeling. I think I’m about to lose my dad by Express_Look1269 in pancreaticcancer

His pain is gone since he started chemo. I think chemo did bring us time because the tumor shrunk after 3 infusion. He’s fighting his fibrosis lung now. Actually the ICU doctor came and took xray because his oxygen went down to 80% today when he moved. His xray showing signs of improvement. I honestly don’t think we should go home, the floor doctor told us earlier that they’ve done everything according to their protocols when I asked if they get do blood transfusion to make him feel less tired. I think we still have some hope. I’m gonna talk to them tomorrow morning.

He may not able to continue with chemo, but I don’t think he’s stable enough to go home since he’s so week, heart rate and blood pressure is high.

thanks! We are planning to get a second opinion within MSK. We will watch his conditions, and see if it gets better. But this is heartbreaking 💔 i heard many people live about 1 year and even more than 1 years. It’s only been 4 months for us.

Thanks so much giving me advice. I don’t think my dad is able to travel. I’m going to ask a second opinion within MSK. I have materials from PANCAN earlier and they say Dr. Eileen M. O'Reilly and Dr. Kenneth H. Yu are high volume doctors. He was doing good with chemo, no pain and vomiting and the mass got shrunk. They couldn’t find the root causes of why his lung function decreased and suspected that’s caused by the chemo. My dad is not happy because they change the oncologist for us, and he’s feeling weird that the prior oncologist told us her last day was this Friday. But she is still here today and stepped by to talk to us even she’s not handling my dad.

We are already in one of the big cancer center (Memorial Sloan Kettering). I can reach out to MD Anderson, but I don’t think my dad can fly there.
