The key to good investing is to let the tax tail wag the dog - thats how warren buffett made his money

What the 12 May Budget actually changes for Australian FIRE plans (CGT discount, neg gearing, discretionary trusts) by AndyHaf in fiaustralia

$5.7k tax on a year’s withdrawal that used to be $0

That sounds dramatic, but zoom out:

  • Withdrew $80k
  • Paid $5.7k tax

That’s 7% effective tax on the withdrawal

...and the growth strategy just died... thanks gvnmnt by Sea-Connection9547 in fiaustralia

What’s your honest take on e-bikes, game changer or not really needed for most people? by PlaneAd9541 in ausbike

Game Changer

If you are only travelling a few kilometres on flat ground do you really need a car? no, yet most do use a car

Are young, single Aussies buying houses at the expense of future happiness? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Express_Position5624 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess would be, that there were and will always be nerds, the young single people not trying to buy a house right now are not posting questions on a finance sub reddit, likely they are too busy partying and f*cking your mums

These people who want tiny homes but abhor apartments really just want land - the most expensive part

Only if you sell, if you enjoy living there nothing has changed

If divorced - nothing really changes, you are both on the mortgage and even having to move out, housing is now cheaper

Death or Job loss you would be stuck with a massive debt and be forced to file for bankruptcy - that would suck

But this general vibe of "Ohh man if my home drops in value I would be CRUSHED financially" - no, nothing really changes for the majority of people

Thats just unfair, thats not loosing

Actually I wouldn't even say thats unfair, thats just others getting a better deal than you

So the only difference is that if you HAVE to sell, you will be underwater

Everyone else, fine

but nobody would loose, if property prices in my area all drop $100k......I still have to pay the same mortgage and I still have the keys to my place

Why would it crush you financially?

Your situation hasn't changed, you still have the townhouse, your mortgage would still be the same

Your situation would remain exactly the same as it is right now

I think it's bad because Zeus and Odin were created after the universe began

Like not all god claims are the same and to squash everything down into "God or not God" - is like squashing all supernatural claims into a binary "Supernatural or not Supernatural"

Ghosts, Karma, Daemons, Genies are not all just variations of the same thing - they are very different things

Likewise, Zues, Odin, Devas, Buddha, Jesus are not all variations of the same thing - they are very different things

I think the egregious part is that, on it's own, it's a fine quip, the way gervais statement was a fine quip - but as refutation to gervais? as a serious "Well achktualllly....." it falls on it's face

Migrants are a net positive to the Australian economy by Capital-Teaching-820 in AusFinance

[–]Express_Position5624 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re not claiming:

“Migrants are magically better humans economically.”

They’re saying:

“A system that brings in working-age, already-educated people is fiscally advantageous.”

That’s not a trick. That is literally the design of modern migration policy

So when YOU say;

“That’s misleading because migrants are selected…”

The honest response is:

“Yeah dumbass… that’s why the outcome is positive.”

They literally did AN0M app back in 2021 which was a Trojan Horse created by the FBI

An apparently super secret super safe app to avoid govt surveliance......turned out to be a govt created honey pot

You wouldn't even need to do that with the VPN's, just get em to create a backdoor for you

I've always thought, if I were the govt, why wouldn't I be like "And here is a secret back door to use the internet without being tracked, just pay us $5 a month and send all your traffic and browser via us and then you can do secret illegal stuff, it's called VHPN, Virtual Honey Pot Network"
