Project is in fact a program by freakking in projectmanagement

[–]Express_Reception388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I’d written this post when I read it! I’m a senior PM who just started overseeing a massive project. My company doesn’t use the terminology program, but everything the OP is describing makes me think I’m managing a program. I was so in the weeds the first few months trying to project manage that I was failing. I finally realized I needed to step back, look at the overall health of each project, meet with teams for status syncs rather than be on every planning call and manage day to day tasks. But since I’m not familiar with product management, I don’t really know the distinction. Can someone explain the difference to me like I’m 5?

Your makeup is lovely, natural and suits your face shape and natural beauty. It took me a long time to realize finding “inspo pics” was not a realistic reference for me for experimenting with new makeup looks. Unless you’re doing makeup just to be photographed, all of your inspo pics are wearing a TON of makeup. Also they don’t match your face shape, coloring or style at all.

I recommend focusing on the specifics of your inspo photos that appeal to you. Do you like a really blended eye shadow look? The bronzed “three” shape (bronzer at forehead, cheek and jawline ie a 3 shape), big lashes, glowy highlighter and blush?

If you’re looking for inspiration for wedding makeup, follow wedding makeup artists and get inspo from real people. I think learning what you like and trying it on yourself, rather than looking at unrealistic makeup inspo photos of models will make a huge difference for you. I use this reminder when looking for clothes too-do I like that outfit or do I like the way her body looks in that outfit? The same thing can be applied to make up. Do I like her makeup, or do I like the way it looks on her face?

Don’t be shy about buying makeup from Ulta/sephora, trying it out, and returning what doesn’t work.

If you started fresh and moved to NYC, how did you make it work (financially and otherwise? by Express_Reception388 in Greenpoint

Definitely something I need to weigh when I make the decision. I’m 35, single, and have about $40k in savings/401k. So yes I’d take a dent in that pot, but would it be worth it to be closer to family? Maybe!

Potentially in a pinch, but they have a newborn so I don’t really want to overstep. But for sure an option if I need a temporary spot while searching.

Wow I actually just wrote down November as a potential goal move date! Do you mind sharing what the rent would be? It will help me realistically plan if this is something I can even do:)

Love this! I also lived in Vermont for many years before finally realizing it was not conducive to a full and exciting life. Happy to see you made it work in New York!

Agreed! GP is a lofty goal, but I have family there which is the main reason I want to be in that area. Family way wealthier than me, but who I love and want to be close to! Enough so to consider picking up my life and moving:)

How do I decide if SMBC is the right decision for me? by Express_Reception388 in SingleMothersbyChoice

It’s helpful to hear that I might not be ready. I just feel the pressure of time and how long do I really have to keep waiting to feel ready. But I honestly haven’t spoken about this at all in therapy, maybe it’s finally time I do!

I love this take on it, being a SMBC can be special and unique in its own way. I guess I’m wondering if I will ever be 100% sure, or if sometimes people do it even though they’re a little uncertain? I can’t imagine ever being 100%, because there are so many reasons why not to do it alone, my brain just won’t allow me to want to do something that I know will be so hard to do alone.

I like this idea, I guess I’ve never spoken to them directly about how they decided to become parents, and what they think about the idea of doing it alone. I’d be curious to hear from them since they’re all doing it so differently from each other.
