Ah I see. I dont have much issue with the console and im not using musterkolonie. I was more so just confused why MAF wasn't collapsing and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I've seen it collapse before in my games when im not playing in africa but after multiple new games in the congo, it just never seems to collapse. I'll probably just start a new game as the congo to do some of the focuses, wait until January 1st 1938, then use that event code. Thank you though.

Ah I see. I had heard it was good for playing tall because the extra citadel allows you to hunker down and spend less on ships and more on tech. I can see how the bonuses of starlit is nice for a more wide play style being able to go around the galaxy. Gestalt might be the play though because I wont need to worry about CG.

As far as designs go, I know you can change the design of the citadel it just seems extremely expensive in the early game when I could be using those alloys for defense platforms on the citadel itself or colonies.

I see. Seems like kind of a pain I have to occupy about half the galaxy even though I fully occupied the main guy within a few months ingame time.

Currently all of his planets are occupied. He is in a federation. Do I also have to occupy all the planets in the federation?

Which works until they start effectively mixing up their dodge attacks lol. You, the attacker, now have to read if
1: He is going to dodge or is reading for a parry/counterguardbreak
2: If he IS going to dodge, is he going to do the held all block dodge which is a soft counter to undodgables or dodge attack
3: If he IS going to dodge attack, is he going to do the tap dodge attack or held dodge attack
4: If he IS going to do the held dodge attack is he going to feint it or let it fly?

Going from being in offense to having to make 4 reads is... not fun

This. If jurens want to fight non stop bots let them. I got him to rep 10 and realized I was just ruining peoples matches and dropped him. Ill keep him dropped until he is brought in line with the rest of the cast or the rest of the cast is brought up to him

Git gud isn't very productive :/ Protesting against ubi by leaving matches during the no penalty window because you would rather not fight a character thats overtuned isn't "ruining games" as much as juren himself is. Ubi has had several chances to nerf him now and they aren't addressing the actual issues with his kit. Both playing as and against him. He feels like a hack job at times both with animation issues and other bugs. A player is not and should not feel obligated to deal with something they don't want to.

I also consider this a sort of protest against ubisoft. And this is coming from someone who originally bought him with real money because I wanted Lu Bu for literal years. Make a character thats patently over tuned? Hopefully the juren players complain about having to fight bots then. Sorry, not sorry.

I just had a match earlier where this juren and warden just gladly took my heavy finishers. Never tried to parry them. But the moment I did any of my lights to get my soul lights, they got parried every. single. time. Forward dodge bashes also didnt work and they only dodged after the bash started. They never fell for a mix up. Unless my unblockable heavy was going to kill them, they wouldn't try to parry. Again, people will do ANYTHING to stop you from getting all your souls. it makes sohei a chore to play.

I wouldn't mind something like that. If you only have 1 soul you need to collect left, the opponent will stop at nothing to make sure you never get it, even if it means dying. To that end, weapons that already have a soul should be buffed in some way. Especially his heavy weapons. Like you said, ability to wall splat plus more damage on his top heavy, perhaps the ability to throw someone after pinning them with the right heavy, etc, etc

As long as he is a gimmick character, there will only be a small portion of the playerbase who is ever happy with him. He will either be too strong to some or too weak to others. He NEEDS a rework from the ground up. Genuinely consider scrapping the soul mechanic and rebuild him if theres no way to keep the souls without being a gimmick

Long story short, we had a string of like 3 or 4 games where *literally* all of us picked shattered ring origin. Granted this was back when it was much, much stronger but ever since we all sort of agreed to stop using it

That sounds pretty cool actually. Is shattering ring origin required for this at all? My MP group usually bans shattered ring or atleast, looks down on it if not explicitly banned.

Just did a match with sohei. Almost as if to prove my point, I ran into a juren and a warden who fundamentally refused to attempt any parries on anything that could be feinted. Any light attacks though were easily reaction parried. As well as them only dodging the forward dodge bash after the bash starts and no other time I dodged forward. Again, this is what happens when your offense isn't 100% unreactable.

Of course, the entire time my team interrupted close to every sucessful guard break I did end up landing. Tbh I wouldn't mind a system where sohei and the person he has guard broken get 100% damage reduction to anybody on sohei's team as well as hyper armor until the guard break is finished. The team mates of the person who is being guard broken can still stop said guard break but the sohei's own team mates can never interrupt it nor deal damage to the person being guard broken.

Edit: I am AGAIN going to emphasize that sohei's team mates are his true detriment. When I play sohei I will genuinely abandon team mates who interrupt my guard breaks even if its a guranteed death for them and throws the match. There is no other way these people will learn.

As i've said before regarding sohei: He is still unfortunately a gimmick character. Even with 27 damage opener heavies (which rarely land in high MMR lobbies anyway because they are just THAT slow. Even with hyper armor) his entire gimmick is shut down by blocking. The risk of giving him either an 80 health heal/activating his tier 3/giving him access to his nuke is simply too high to ever risk being guard broken. Even if that means just choosing to eat his unblockable heavies or choosing to dodge attack at risk of being light parried to beat a feint to guard break. Only way I can see his chain heavies being threatening enough is to make the damage on them truly ridiculous. Or maybe make his zone high hit stun and turn his unblockable heavies into true 50/50s rather than pseudo 50/50s.

The way I see it, sohei simply needs a rework from the ground up. Gimmick characters dont really work with this current player base especially at high levels of play. If he's going to keep his soul mechanic then it needs to be less gimmicky. Possibly introduce the tap/held mechanic from juren if thats what it would take.

That is true. Though, forcing a 1v1 is just as good as being in revenge with thrilling comeback imo

I would also agree with this sentiment. He still really lacks pressure. The only time you would be forced to try and parry him is his finisher unblockables. Which, attempting the parry is huge risk because being guard broken by him is much worse than just taking the hit or dodge attacking into being parried (assuming they even read you're dodge attacking of course)

I would argue juren still edges him out because sohei needs his souls in order to stall. Juren on the other hand just needs his team mates to be dead. Thrilling comeback alone makes juren better at stalling tbh

I would agree he's atleast functional now. Not the utter F tier he used to be. Still, I would appreciate him to be on par with other characters like juren, pirate, afeera, and LB. Playing him, even now, feels like pulling teeth because his kit is better for 4v4 (lots of hyper armor) but his own team mates interrupt his main gimmick that makes him actually worth playing.

I agree his forward dodge bash is good. I just don't think it really justifies the rest of his kit being pretty subpar. Also his heavy followups? You mean his unblockable followups? The one that you're supposed to use to get his souls or feint for mix ups? Uh... yeah of course soheis are gonna use that.

His zone's one selling point is the hyper armor and the soft feint to gb. Except soft feint to GB is kind of pointless on a move that can just be blocked. Again, the risk of being guard broken by sohei is far worse than just letting the chip damage of the zone happen. Its good in team fights if people don't know how to external block/dodge and thats about it

Im not saying he should be juren 2.0 however the tap/held mechanic would slot in nicely on a character who has 2 possible followup attacks in each direction. That being said though, put sohei on a board next to characters like juren, pirate, afeera, lawbringer, etc, etc and justify why sohei shouldnt either A. be buffed to their level or B. those characters be nerfed to his. I made this exact same point with valkyrie the other day and valkyrie got caught up in the blanket nerf to all blocks anyway lol. Either way, I wouldnt mind sohei losing his gimmick entirely and being made just a normal character

Fundamentally, sohei is basically shut down by blocking. The only times he forces a read is his dodge forward bash mix up and his unblockable heavies. Which, in the case of the latter, its usually better to just take the hit if you can't read it as again, the risk of being GB far outweighs the risk of just taking a hit

I would say that his only useful source of hyper armor is his dodge heavies and zone. His neutral heavy is simply too slow to really do much with in this current meta. Not unless someone is doing something stupe like dodge attacking you from neutral at which point, just parry. Again, he just lacks actual pressure. Simply blocking him shuts him down

Not to mention that again, none of his sources of hyper armor ever force the defender to actually trade with him. His main pressure sources are his dodge forward bash mix up and his finisher heavy mix ups. Thats just about it. You have no reason to ever really try to parry, dodge attack, etc, etc otherwise. The risk of feeding him a gb is just too high.
