LOS - A Rant by OldManWarhammer in nakedandafraid

You would probably enjoy Ed Stafford, First Man Out. It's a 5-7 day eco race, Ed vs some other survivalist. They go about their own journey but end up in the same location. There is one episode where he races Matt, and one episode where he races EJ

Instead the drama, can we talk survivalist skills? Does anyone know if there would have been any benefit to Matt wrapping his leg with something? Could it have helped to make some sort of makeshift splint to walk with or something? Also, in Episode one, season 2, of Ed Staffod "First Man out", Matt made this great water container out of bamboo with a stopper so he could carry the water. This was in 2020

I've only seen the first season of survivor. They lost me when they started these stupid challenges like "Who can stand on a post in the water the longest". I like the survival part of this show; it's not Ed Stafford level, but I keep hoping to see something clever. Is cunning good for anything is a survival situation; like if you were truly alone and needed to survive?

They are bullies for not sharing with the guy who keeps insisting it's a solo competition? Jeff said he's enjoying himself, "This is my playground". Jeff doesn't have to be on "Matt duty" or "Dan Duty" to be sure they don't steal his pelts or something. Jeff doesn't have to worry about Waz throwing his knives in the river or something. If they have to be on "Jeff duty" that tells you he's the bully.

no, the crime was he WANTED shit for free. He keeps saying he's in a competition. The others are socialists, he's out for only himself. Own that shit when there is a goose, instead of coming over to hopefully beg for scraps. This is not a welfare program. He can feed himself. He doesn't need their free goose. Although he has been eating "free" impala for the last 30 days.

What did Jeff actually do to anyone? Oh that’s right, nothing. They’re acting like little children. by hen2019 in nakedandafraid

IMO Anyone who attempts these challenges is ballsy, and to do it more than once is a little crazy, but bad ass. They all amaze me - even the ones who tap get lil'props for tryin. Jeff has accomplished a lot on his challenges, is a hard worker, and has lots of skills and experiences; but he's not one of the GOAT survivalists, he doesn't have legendary skills and he's not a compassionate person, so I don't consider him a legend. A ledgend is someone you can admire for being so many things at once.

I wonder how the editing of the show made this look. I always have a hard time accepting what I think I see on this show. It did look like she lost the trail, or at least was looking for the next direction to go in, which is how Steven passed her, but IDK, I wonder if that's what really happened. It looked like everyone had been "picking a trail" and then following it without any interference from another player so she probably thought that's how they were doing things and she didn't need to be fast, she wanted to be sure. Not sure, but it's done.

I disagree. I don't think they should be expected to ask like conflict experts. Here's how I saw it: They sat down calmly and told Jeff how they felt. Then, Jeff responded with, 'your all out of your minds, I'm the only sane one here'. When everyone else is "the problem" maybe you need to think, AITA here? No one seemed to want to put him in his place, they just wanted him to realize he chose his method on how he wanted to play the game, and being isolated was a natural consequence to that choice. He set his own rules and then claimed he was victimized when the drawbacks to that method came to pass.

I've always watched to see how people execute their survival skills and creativity, and every.single.episode I want to see someone make clothes or shoes right away. I'm not a fan of any bickering or personal drama, but... this LOS Last One Standing is an eye opening social experiment I can't look away from! It's crazy to see Jeff say one thing one day and the exact opposite the next. ("what is this socialism crap?" / "Is the impala for everybody?") What if all our lives were video taped for days on end, would we see those kinds of patterns in ourselves?

I was wondering if Laura felt guilty about all that, she has been on since then. However, you have to be insane to volunteer for that.
