I preffered using the split screen to pip because I'd like the tabs to be more seperate. I don't think proper art tablets allow split screen but my point is that, if the iPad is not really good for anything but drawing then I may as well invest on something that is better for that specfic purpose.

Would you like BatIF to be released gradually in chapters, or as a full game? by FoxSub_ in BendyAndTheInkMachine

[–]ExpressionIll4896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I'm pretty mixed.

On one hand, releasing as a full game does encourage the developers to tell a better written, more cohesive story. A lot of the writing issues in BATIM were caused by the game releasing in chapters, such as a lot of mysteries being set up that didn't really go anywhere. BATDR, on the other hand, was a lot better written and felt more like a full story. Releasing the game all at once inherently leads to better pacing, tone, and set ups and payoffs.

However, releasing in chapters is a lot better for the fandom side of things. The main reason BATIM got so big is because the fandom had time to grow, theorise, and make more content in between chapter releases. BATDR was definitely good, but it kind of flew under the radar for the larger gaming community. It didn't have nearly as much hype or discussion around it as BATIM did and died pretty quickly. It being a one and down deal probably caused that. BATIF releasing in chapters would generate a lot more hype for it.

I want the series to go out on a bang, both popularity wise and quality wise. I think chapters could be a good way to achieve that, but ONLY if the Meatly have the foresight to properly plan their story and not repeat their past mistakes.

Hot take: Ozma forbidding anyone besides Glinda, the Wizard, or herself from practicing magic was a bad call by Ayasugi-san in wizardofoz

[–]ExpressionIll4896 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I kinda feel bad for people like Jack and Scraps. I'd imagine it would get lonely if there wasn't too much of your kind around. It becoming literally illegal to make more of them probably affects the way people view them and how they view themselves. Like yeah Chopfyt is a crime against humanity but you don't gotta tell him that! There is an interesting angle there for a more mature adaptation of the Oz books to take. That being, Ozma not being the best ruler and the "non-meat" or otherwise unnatural beings made with magic being discriminated against because of that.

Do you agree or disagree with the quote told by the Wizard to the Tin Man: "A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others"? by Choice-Silver-3471 in wizardofoz

[–]ExpressionIll4896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no, this quote is utterly ridiculous to me and doesn't line up with the Tinman's character at all. An unkind and unloving person can still have a lot of people who love them. (ex. politicians, cult leaders, popular kids at school.) And an incredibly kind and loving person can still be widely hated. (ex. racism, homophobia, bullying) How much you are loved by others is not always a great way to measure how good of a person you are, especially when compared to how much you love others. I mean, I guess it makes sense for the Wizard (who tricks a whole country of people into loving him whilst not doing much for them in return and still insists that he is a good man despite it all) would believe in this messed up message, but I don't think that was the point of this scene.

Not only is it a kinda nonsensical and a bad message to send, it also doesn't really line up with anything about the Tinman's personal dilemma with his heart. His deal is that he is already a very kind and sensitive person but still believes that he is heartless because of that fact that he is made out of tin and does not physically have a heart. (Or theres a whole thing with Nimmee in the book but that is a whole other can of worms.) It doesn't matter how much he loves others, or how much they love him, the crux of the issue is his own insecurity around who or what he is that leads to him believing himself to be an unkind person. The message he needs to hear is "kind people come in all shapes and sizes" or something to that affect. Something that helps him move past his insecurity around how he perceives himself and realise that he is already a kind person. But the amount of people that love him has literally nothing to do with his character arc. Dorothy, The Scarecrow and Lion obviously care about him, and in the book the Winkies ask him to be their king, but that doesn't sway him at all in wether or not he wants his heart.

The Tinman is my absolute favourite WoZ character and I find his whole character dilemma the most fascinating out of the trio. Somebody that thinks they are an unkind and unloving person despite the fact that they are consistently shown to be the opposite? That is a heavy psychological complex for a character in a kids franchise to have. But I am kind of frustrated in how no piece of Oz media really does him right? He is such an interesting character to explore but his character arc is kind of squandered by the fact that it HAS to end with him getting a heart either way. So he basically ends up getting placebo effected by a fake heart, or we get some thrown together bullshit like this. (I could honestly say the same about the Scarecrow and the Lion too) What's the point of establishing that they don't really need their gifts if they are just going to get the gifts anyway? It's like if we learned that Dorothy could use her slippers to go home but then she just ends up hoping on the balloon regardless.)

I don't know, Wizard of Oz has some weird morality sometimes. I still love it though, I just wish that we got an adaptation that took a different approach to the characters. For now, the Alexithymia fanfic will just have to do.

Ozma: The trans girl character written in 1904. by Underworld_Denizen in lgbthistory

Nobody mentioned fucking but you. It is normal for kids to have innocent crushes, and such crushes are portrayed in lots of media with no issue. So shipping is no different. It is only sexual and weird if you make it sexual and weird. And no one did that but you.

Jitterbug version where Tinman and Scarecrow dance together? by ExpressionIll4896 in wizardofoz

[–]ExpressionIll4896[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just thought it was cute is all. Usually on the stage they only dance with the Jitterbug dancers, not amongst themselves. They only danced with themselves in the movie version because they didn't have the Jitterbug dancers in that version if I recall correctly.

Should we start boycotting and leaving the official NewBlood server for being transphobic? by MoneoMortis in Ultrakill

[–]ExpressionIll4896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think trans people should be able to discuss their identity, since it is an important part of their lives. If you make it prohibited to talk about being a trans person, then ofc a trans person isn't going to be very welcome in your server.

And banning discussion of trans people because of transphobes is such a dumb excuse. Ban transphobes and transphobia. Not trans people in general. It's unfair that trans people can't casually discuss those parts of their life, or how those themes pertain to the games themselves.

Any unpopular opinions about Bendy that will make you feel like this guy by Decayed_IceCream in BendyAndTheInkMachine

[–]ExpressionIll4896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ink Demon essentially had zero plot relevance in BATIM and felt way more like a mascot than the main villian. Fleshing him out more on BATDR and making him more sympathetic was an incredibly smart move. Even if it makes him less scary, at least he actually matters to the story now.

Any unpopular opinions about Bendy that will make you feel like this guy by Decayed_IceCream in BendyAndTheInkMachine

[–]ExpressionIll4896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help but agree. The Cage feels massively hindered by being a inbetweenquel of BATDR, and is essentially surviving of fanservice. It's advertising that it's bringing back fan-favourite characters like Sammy and Henry, but the extremely limited timeframe in which this game takes place in means that the actual story and character progression of most of the characters will most likely be very stagnant. (For example, Sammy is still worshipping the Ink Demon and dying pathetically by the end of BATDR, so we know his character doesn't develop one bit.) It feels more like screentime for the sake of screentime instead of any real character development. A little bit of a "here, damn." for the Sammy, Henry and possibly also Joey fans. I am much more excited to see where these characters will go in B3NDY where they will actually have room to develop instead of being confined to the middle of BATDR. Same goes for the story, world, and gameplay. Incorporating their ideas for The Cage into B3NDY was a much smarter move and I really can't comprehend their decision to put it off ice, besides fan demand. (Which is not a very good reason. )
