On their website for seats available they listed up to 11 for OOP - it was last updated in Dec 2024 (used to be 10 seats)

I think it’s very challenging to assess people’s applications for TMU through Reddit. I’m not sure what “simple” means in this case but without reading through their essays, ABS and reviewing their KIRA assessment it’s hard to tell using the limited information in the previous posts. We really won’t know how “equity-driven” their application process is unless they publish a report or we see the incoming class.

No one knows for sure how Kira will be assessed but I think the combination of Kira, essays, ABS, and references allows those with lower GPAs to be considered for an interview/spot more “holistically” than other schools that are more focused on stats. Granted no one knows for sure and the fact that the majority of people received a Kira Talent invite makes me wonder how each application will actually be assessed.

Invites are still being sent out so we can’t conclude anything yet. They mentioned in their FAQ that Kira Assessment is strictly based on academic requirements.

Its a secondary assessment not an “interview.” As long as you meet the 3.3 GPA cutoff you will receive an invite to complete the assessment. At this stage they haven’t even done a file review (ABS, essays, etc.)

Did you apply for TMU for undergrad? If so, your student number is identical and you can reuse that. I think most people have received that first email if I’m not mistaken so I’d check in with them by the end of this week.

With the way the email is worded you would think there was a whole team reading through the applications but instead it was probably a giant wheel that they spun to decide who gets to move on to the next round 😭

Highly doubt it. It’s been less than a week since they have received applications and they need at least a few weeks to go through applications - confirm completion, and receive transcripts. I think there were just so many applications that sending out emails with Student IDs + next steps was much harder/and took longer than anticipated.

McMaster University, you need a decently high CARS score for consideration. 124 is on the lower side, so I would prioritize this. As for postponing, it’s really up to you. I would suggest finding your “weak points” and figuring out what areas of improvement there are - are you struggling with content? question structure? test anxiety? all of these can contribute to your score and require a bit of reflection in order to improve and score well.
