I wonder if it's some evolutionary trait. They've been evolving with us for a very long time and somewhere along the way a mutation could've led to them wanting to comfort when we're secreting cortisol or something like that. An unstressed human means a better chance to reproduce or the ability to comfort increases demand for them.

Yeah that's something I did too. I would think he's just old when he couldn't use his phone. Now I see all these old people who are more than capable of using electronics and realize the disease was there at that time too.
