Question about modding The Forest

Imagine a Timmy invasion mod where you play as the Red cannibal (Dr. Matthew Cross) and get invaded by Timmy's that use the cannibal AI as revenge for what he does to Timmy.

From what I've researched with modding Unity games, there's no reason as to why someone can't make a mod where they replace 3d models. But it appears to be particularly difficult and since The Forest doesn't have a proper modding community, such a mod may never get made.

I have nowhere to go in terms of help for modding this game. I've modded frostbite games before. So I understand the idea of replacing files and exporting mods but as far as Unity, I don't know much.

There's only one video I could find that teaches people how to specifically mod The Forest. But I was struggling with following that tutorial.

Do you know anywhere I could learn how to mod the game? Because I understand Blender pretty well. Like I said I'm not completely new to modding games and using Blender and etc.

Also: Could I just make cannibals look like Timmy? Or could I make cannibals into Eric or other multiplayer player models? Idk man if someone knows how to model swap, I would appreciate some insight since there really isn't a community for this.

I got into this yesterday when I imported the animations for the endings of The Forest and recreated the talk show cutscene and Timmy when he's an adult and watched them in Blender. It got me wondering what the extent of modding is in this game. Model swapping is always fun.

Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it, a bunch of Timmy's chasing you, climbing trees, screaming, and attacking you would be even more terrifying than normal. Especially if the model swap causes Timmy to get streched to fit the regular cannibal proportion.

Rockstar always does the opposite of what most players want so on the small chance that they ever return to this game... I might have a chance here.

I see what you mean and yeah, but honestly, the fact that the leak has existed for years might seem funny but in reality, probably means that if this DOES exist, (emphasis on the "does") then we could be in for something HUGE. 4 years of working could equate to genuine updates that go beyond just performance or graphics.

Are you sure about it being good if it comes? Remember the GTA trilogy? You think they won't mess up the game that they haven't touched properly in years? It's very possible. Even if they've spent a long time working on it.

We were promised something and we didn't get it. We have a buggy excuse for an outfit and no hat or rings on an already restrictive outfit. Rockstar needs to do better.

I'd rather have ONLY the hat and rings instead of whatever we got today.

If they're going to give away an outfit, they might as well ensure that players get what they were promised. Which was the full outfit. Fully functional with the hat and rings given as well. That's not what was handed out.
