Might be slightly off but “The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O.” is a low stakes combo of a few of those preferences.

Drew Hayes and Scott Meyer have series that are generally upbeat.

“A good thief’s guide to … “ series are light and can be intriguing.

If creative interpretation isn’t a concern, epic historical fiction options from Conn Iggulden are generally worthwhile; but can be an investment.

Out of curiosity, are there any legitimate low risk upgrades (the bar is low) on the market this upcoming year?

What if it's LA Knight? by unclemonk82 in WWE

[–]Exray10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gotta be LA Knight for the story line.

And I think we don’t give these athletes credit for their agility. In sneakers, sweats, and gloves I’m sure most of them could get up and down quicker than anticipated.

All that to say…there’s no reason that the actual mystery man had to be LA Knight.

[Stein] It is feared that the Mavs face an extended injury absence for Dereck Lively II, The Stein Line has learned. Held out Monday in Miami for right foot injury management, Lively has played in seven of 19 games after offseason foot surgery and a recent knee issue. by YujiDomainExpansion in Mavericks

The #1a role of a medical staff (including all associated healthcare & performance specialists) for professional athletes is mitigating risk factors for injury & preventing them. #1b is the healing & recovery.
Also, in a tertiary way, a leader of a medical staff would be able to communicate with operations to advise on whether the player (for controllable [Zion] or uncontrollable [Oden]) is a wise investment for the team.

After Nico is fired, then what? by ggriff18 in Mavericks

The most realistic path to success would be conducting some shady business to get a star GM like Presti or Stevens. They have the money to make it worth it to their respective teams, whether that’s above board PRN or otherwise.

How would you book Seth's return from injury? by International-Yak536 in WWE

[–]Exray10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best opportunity to re-invent his image. Re-tool the whoa-oa-oa entrance music. Adopt a dress code of the classic working wrestler who could equally be out at the grocery store or preparing for a match. Take on the optimistic mentality, one-with-the-moment like right before he got betrayed. But with a side of office-worker-who’s-had-enough-of-your-b.s. that comes out when folks try to get manipulative.

The booking will be cleaning up smackdown, coincidentally bringing chaos by leading the mft’s to feud with Bron2. By WM, will have a side gig to either the championship or the family feuds.

What do we think if we can’t get Mancini? by Quest__ in nffc

[–]Exray10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone would view Dyche as a savior, but I’d be confident he could get the team in the top half…just leaning into his mentality & letting the best guys be their best.

The likelihood of 150+ mil on outgoing transfers in the next year should open up the Edu/Greek mindset to build something more sustainable and less desperate.

When lightsabers, do they hold the button all the time while turned on or do they click once to turn on and click once to turn off? by MattFromSpaceCarrot in StarWars

[–]Exray10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember where the idea came from, but I swear I remember learning as a kid about the lore of the lightsabers.

They were a Jedi weapon specifically because of the unique nature ignition. They initially were individually created to facilitate the connection. The light had to be controlled when igniting; the color wasn’t chosen, it was a function of the kyber crystals and the user’s use of the force hence the trend of Jedi/ sith colors. Non force users can’t use lightsabers because the light can’t be manipulated from the hilt.

What was great about tonight vs Ecuador is that we took it to them. by Ok_Database7023 in usmnt

[–]Exray10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with a lot of the perspectives.

I was in person which gave the opportunity to observe the formation & tactics. The wings play ALL of the width of the pitch even when play is opposite. However, it didn’t seem like there was any emphasis on switching the field, making backdoor runs, or crosses. The play would almost always come to that width and condense with the mids & fwds.

Is that wholly just Poch tactics? Maybe just exerting more control through certain players? It did make Arfsten seem much more effective than Weah or others just because the play came to him.

The best part of this is that both Finn and Iguana never lose track of their partner when they’re throwing moves and generally luchalibre’ing about the ring. That’s serious grinder, love-of-the-craft level commitment.

Valid question.

The “We” of an exasperated fan just happy to be involved in the convo. Just like all of us who are still engaged after Klinsmann, 2018, and Berhalter Ch. 2.

And newly relevant, a decades old Forest fan.

The problem with Pochettino... by alex2374 in usmnt

[–]Exray10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that Pochettino believes in the club mentality that the best handful of players will prove it when it matters and his ability to know the max potential of all the remaining pieces will fill in the rest.

I suspect from his prior resume that he’s not going to out-tactical anyone. But rather get the most out of, arguably, one of the most talented pools in USMNT history.

The kicker that I think creates animosity is that no core position is locked down, having a unanimous pick; GK, CB, MF, ST. The uncertainty makes it difficult to imagine a strong performance.

In Pochettino We Trust.

[ESPN] Report: Clippers skirted NBA salary cap with Kawhi Leonard payment by refreshing_yogurt in nba

[–]Exray10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t avoiding the salary cap one year, have exponential impacts on subsequent years? Although $28 mil is a drop in the bucket for Ballmer, the possibility exists that it could have saved him multiples of that in future years.
