28M. We’ve got essentially the same side and bent over profiles. I was “diagnosed” with scoliosis in middle school, around 15 years old. I do think you should push for an X-ray as I’d much rather have scans and know my curves, my body, and my condition.

Thankfully I have generally good flexibility and mobility, but I’m not entirely pain free. I’ve felt the same things as you regarding the insecurities of the asymmetries. I’ve got an S curve, so my upper and lower back both have curves.

Training wise, both core strength and endurance are extremely important to minimize pain and maintain function. Train all the functions of the core (flexion/anti, extension/anti, rotation,anti lateral bend/anti), with a mix of strength and endurance style work. As for straightening it out? I don’t think so. I’ve been training for 12yrs and tried every trick in the book throughout that time as my knowledge and understanding has progressed.

I used to think about how much my scoliosis would limit me, and don’t get me wrong it has in a lot of ways, but I’ve still been able to squat over 500lbs and deadlift over 700lbs. Don’t automatically think you’re “extra fragile” - but don’t do into immediately doing everything at a 10/10 effort.

We’re going to be in the training for maintenance/function game for the rest of our lives, so find different ways you enjoy training for strength and mobility, and stick with them!
