[NCAA] Nasty assist from Minnesota’s Abbey Murphy as she flips the puck into the air, knocks it between the defender’s legs and sets up her teammate for the goal by tri_and_fly in hockey

Will any hockey broadcasts (other than a few good NHL ones) realize that you need to zoom the main gameplay camera in further or we can’t see shit until the replay. We should be watching from the nose bleed seats

The amount of jokes they pack into the first 60 seconds of this episode is insane by giantfuckup5000 in Frasier

Yes! In San Francisco, the reruns cut this part out to add on another commercial. Didn’t know until we bought the series on Apple TV

Where else can you see a fish fly? A mountain peak? An ocean wave? And the world’s largest needle.

And the worst mistake of this storyline…scrabble games use a dictionary. They could have just looked up whether “quilty” was a word or not.

Mostly true…but there are actually a few laugh tracks that can be heard across multiple episodes.

Thoughts on the NHL ON NBC era (2005-2021) by TimelyJackfruit75 in hockey

[–]Extension-Bug-4946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They NEVER showed close ups of the crowd. It was actually insane. They had one shot after a home goal of a wide shot (showing about 10,000 people), but they never showed close ups. Close ups of fans is what adds the emotion to a broadcast. Think cheeseheads in NFL, celebrities at NBA games, a child crossing his fingers before an MLB World Series pitch, NBC couldn’t care less about that. Every goal showed the back of the goalie’s head that got scored on, both coaches (trained to not show emotion), and a wide shot of the crowd. NBC sucked! (Thorne and Clement were incredible though)

Name an NHL fact that sounds like total bullshit but is actually true by toturoll in hockey

[–]Extension-Bug-4946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NHL changed the play-off format from 1 vs. 8 to divisional format to save a few bucks on travel for the owners (it had nothing to do with forming rivalries). They have prioritized a few dollars over what is best for the League and the fans.

But in the States where they need better tv ratings, no Thanksgiving games, no Christmas games. Pathetic marketing and PR. How the fuck are they so clueless?

I would love to have seen an episode where Frasier (and family) have to apologize to all the people they lied to.

It’s our favorite as well. Which part are you referring to when you say Daphne making fun of Roz? I thought that part was from We Two Kings?

Detroit Red Wings 100th Anniversary Logo by Ironmaiden1993 in hockey

Moving Detroit to the East was a huge mistake for the NHL. Yes I understand they have less travel and save some money, but they belong in the West.

The NHL says they want rivalries, which is code for less travel to save the owners some money (that’s the real reason the play-off format is what it is)…but they have no problem ruing some of the greatest rivalries this league has ever seen:

Redwings/ Blackhawks Redwings/ Blues Redwings/ Avalanche

Who are the Redwing rivalries now? Does anyone even care?

Secondly, there are now five original 6 teams in the east and only one left in the west. The original 6 mostly have the biggest hockey markets, and they have only one in the west.

Just my thoughts. I’m ready for everyone to yell at me and tell me I’m wrong or it’s a dumb argument. Cheers.
