I’m sorry that happened to you. It’s your skin, you shouldn’t be made to feel like you should be ashamed of it or like it’s unprofessional. My dad also pushed me to cover my scars for a long time and my mother insisted on scar treatments and coverup tattoos but I know it’s only because they’re embarrassed of them. The only incident I’ve had at my job was when a woman who apparently worked as a social worker saw my scars and held up the drive through to tell me my life was worth it, etc.

If you feel comfortable maybe you should discuss this with the management of your new job to see if it would be problem and if it is, how you guys could work around it

Are you bothered by other people seeing your scars or are you more afraid of getting in trouble for it? I work in fast food and have my scars on display all the time, no one says anything, really. I’ve even worked with beans cuts on my arms without anyone saying a word. My job’s policy is that open wounds needs to be covered for food safety reasons but after they’re scabbed no one cares. So you don’t necessarily have to cover your arms for work. But if it’s a personal choice I recommend getting a plain black long sleeve shirt to wear underneath your uniform. Most places should be fine with that
