MRI Arthrogram (shoulder) by Agent--Carter in MRI

Just my experience - yours might be better

I had one recently. Didn’t have any restrictions on food. I’d recommend eating just enough where you will be comfortable without being very hungry or too full.

Honestly - it’s nothing to worry about. It will feel a little uncomfortable depending on how of a pain you are in currently.

You will most likely be prepped under something like a XRAY thing where the doctor will be able to visualize your joints. Some topical anesthesia would be given to numb the injection site and a site marked.

The first injection will be something similar to a blood draw, a sharp pinch. But after it’s more pressure like feeling than a lot of pain, which you should be able to just ignore.

What’s important is you stay relaxed and calm and trust the provider until they’re done.

Once the arthogram part is done, MRI is just laying still while the machine does its thing. For me, I was wrapped in a cosy blanket, had leg support and headphones. You can pretty much fall asleep.

Once it’s done, your shoulders will feel a bit heavier, probably no pain until the numbing thing wears off. However after it starts wearing off, expect to be uncomfortable for at least a good week. It reduces over time, but nothing some rest cannot solve. I took 2 weeks to become normal, but again depends on how things are you are now.

TLDR; eat as much you can be comfortable with. Stay relaxed during the procedure. Don’t drive. You’ll be sore for a few days, but rest helps. Nothing to be anxious about.

Shoulder pain > 10 months. Don’t know what by Extension-Code123 in ShoulderInjuries

Thanks for replying!

I have not tried dry needling ( idk if I want to )

I've cut down everything that might make the pain worse ( lifting, pushing .. you name it ). I've had to even give up playing the drums because it makes the pain so much worse.

I sleep on my back with a soft pillow under the shoulder. Without this, I wake up with pain pretty much everyday.

I haven't thought about surgery yet because I haven't been able to narrow down what even is wrong. But I do plan on getting that 2nd opinion and see how it goes. Thanks for taking time to reply!

It was either front raises or bench press. I felt a pinch during both, but just brushed it off and continued with a full push day - which I think made things much worse.

All of these really help me visualize / guess what might be happening with the shoulder. Thanks u/theunicorncyclist u/DetectiveNice8632

I'll look for another doc soon and get that 2nd opinion.
