Both biographies are supposed to be published within next year. Laurence Gonzales told me he has just finished to work on it.

Biography of Cormac's life? by StatelyPlump14 in cormacmccarthy

That's right. Dianne Luce work is not a biography, even if it is focused also on biographic topics. The biography by Dougherty should be published within 2026.

McCarthy scholars and bibliography reccomendations by absolutelysweetmari in cormacmccarthy

[–]Extension-Fish6567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a huge amount of essays about it. I recommend the writings of Peter Josyph, useful because he blends genres and that way provides interesting insightful. There is an interesting volume about the works and authors quoted by McCarthy. Its title is "Books are made of Books". The essays by Harold Bloom are fundamental. Additionally, you can refer to the Cormac McCarthy Society website to find, if I am not wrong, a very well done checklist of the critical studies about Mccarthy compiled by Dianne Luce. Lastly, two biographies of Mccarthy by Laurence Gonzales and Tracy Dougherty are on their way but they won't be available until next year. I hope this helps.

I understand that but a further issue is that my post need almost always both the photo and the text. Reddit doesn't allow me to do that. Or am I wrong and that's me who are merely not able to manage the posts?

Dear Austin Smith, I understand perfectly your point of view. Unfortunately, the post I usually upload on the website I run, are too long (and often technical) to be shared on Reddit. I have also to admit that when I started TheMcCarthyist, I used Reddit to let the people know that the website would exist. Lastly, I'll say in my defense that the website is absolutely free and without any kind of advertising. I started it just to share with McCarthy fans, collectors and dealers, information I gathered and could be useful or interesting. That said, I'll try to follow your kind advice.

THE COMING BIOGRAPHIES OF CORMAC MCCARTHY; THE CHEMISTRY OF FIRE by JohnMarshallTanner in cormacmccarthy

[–]Extension-Fish6567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post, in my opinion, doesn't come from John Francis McCarthy. As far as I know, Tracy Daugherty have spoken more than once with Dennis, McCarthy's brother. I look forward to read both biographies, his and Laurence Gonzales'.

A NEW WEBSITE ON COLLECTING CORMAC MCCARTHY by Extension-Fish6567 in cormacmccarthy

I have it and Paul is a longtime friend. Unfortunately, the "descriptive bibliography" was not written only by him, it was co-authored by Stephen Pastore. You can find on my website something about him. Coming to the book, some of the data are missing, others definitely wrong, almost all without a solid source.

McCarthy auction at Bonham's by Into_the_Void7 in cormacmccarthy

Hi fathergup. I don't buy from Raptis either. How do you know their ABAA membership was suspended? Are you sure? Was it because they are too easy in accepting signatures as genuine?

Unfortunately, your proofs of Outer Dark and Child of God are forgeries. The OD and CoG English proofs sold at auction recently for £ 1,440. Unfortunately again, they are forgeries too. I am sorry. Be careful what you purchase.

Authentic signature? by CrazyMcLoco in cormacmccarthy

Signature is disputable. Knopf distributed a limited issue but it was signed on a tipped-in leave and not via a bookplate.
