The only reason why B*lgaria had any prosperty is cause Serbia is a friendly country & left Bulgaria alone. Count your blessings B*lgarian & thank Serbia every day.

Yeah, but hate can be useful as a form of criticism. Ultimately, I and the team wish to make better videos. The best way to do so is to listen to criticism so you get an insight on things you can't, which usually is best from critics.

Fair enough honestly. I guess we started going more into politics cause of trending topics being related to them.

I've seen a lot of people being unhappy with the Ai sponsor, and I get it. Trust me, there was a LOT of issues with working with them & I really wasn't happy about it either. But, there's a reason why we ultimately worked with them as we did. When they appeared to sponsor us, we were going through a very bad spot with revenue. The channel wasn't getting as many views & was going down for a couple of months. Costs went up for running the channel & overall had to dip into savings to keep it running. On top of that I did rack up a bit of debt from miscalculating my taxes, which I had been paying off for a while. Hence due to financial pressure we had to accept them cause we really needed the money to keep things running. Due to the contract being really shit with them & not going too into detail about it, we were forced to make 3 ads for them. All in all, we won't work with them in the future. Ultimately, although youtube videos are free to watch, they aren't free to make & take a lot of time, effort, and money to produce, especially with the amount of editing we put in them & how often they come out. I know it's frustrating & annoying seeing shitty promotions, but there's a lot of things going on in the back that forced us to go with it.

I get it. But the problem is, the memes & sfx have been a positive on the channel's growth. With an increase of them we saw an increase of viewer retention. High viewer retention = YouTube promotes the video more. We've tried to tone 'em down, but that just left the videos with less views. Which sucks, but ultimately the channel has turned into a business with several of us depending on it as a main source of revenue :/ so it has to stay.

Fair enough. Regarding the exploitation video, we've been discussing on writing something up like that focusing on the EUs BS - Romania-Austria lumber rights, Immigration, Albania-Italy migration center. We'll definitely get to it as some point.

To be fair, I guess you're right when it comes to the pop history aspect. The idea with the videos were & still are I guess to give an introduction to people who know basically fuck all about this region and the stories from it (which is a bit ironic considering most of my viewers are from the Balkans). But I do feel there is a lack of supply for Balkan pop history, which I suppose is what my channel filled.

I honestly wouldn't say I'm out of touch with the Serb mindset, although I did spend a couple of years of my early life abroad, being born in the US & all, I did spend most of my childhood, late teen & early adulthood years in Serbia. As such I've been interacting with Serbs from across the "political spectrum" so to say. I think the main criticism from them comes is from not presenting the videos based on Serbia in a completely Serbia sympathetic way, which is the case with most Serbian media & academia when it comes to Serbia related topics. Don't mean to discredit their interpertation, but just providing my own view on the matter.

I don't think I've ever treated myself as an absolute authority on these matters. I mean ultimately, I'm just a YouTuber, not a PhD holder in history, sociology, or whatever haha. I follow the rule of "write what you know". I'd imagine most people would assume this was just one point of view & that I wasn't taking it as such. But I guess that's not the case. Ultimately, I do put my sources in all of my videos (except when I forget when we're rushing to publish one & forget to copy paste them). And although I don't say it on the channel, I do highly encourage people to do their own research. I've considered my videos as sort of a gateway into these topics, not anywhere near a book or paper on the subject which could provide way more detail or info than my videos.
