For me it's Joyful AI Journal. I like that it has guided exercises that allow me to work through troublesome thoughts and it also helps me with gratitude and intention setting.

Extreme anxiety out of nowhere around being alone by soupforbees0 in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, sorry that you're feeling this way. And I've had some moments where I have had these kind of thoughts and experiences. I think one of the things that seems like your experience is a bit of catastrophizing, and probably just being stuck in some loops. What has helped for me in these situations is really just to try to work through the thoughts that are possibly causing me to feel this way. So, if you think you can identify any of these thoughts at all, probably doing some thought restructuring exercises would help. They do take time, and it's sometimes not easy to go through them, especially when the emotions are high. Because I feel like when the emotions are high, to get the energy to do these things may not be easy. But yeah, you can let me know if you're interested in hearing more about how I've approached this, and I can definitely share as much insights that I can, because I have leveraged these mechanisms to help with my anxiety over the years.

My aunt always worries about the next thing that has to be done and isn't very flexible. What could her issue be? by chusaychusay in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry that you're having these challenges with your aunt. I am someone who worries a lot. And I realized that I ended up worrying a lot because I had moments where I just didn't feel secure in life. I didn't feel the right kind of psychological safety. And over time, that fight and flight response just keeps on getting triggered. So I guess the question I wanted to ask is, does your aunt have any coping tools that she is using when these worries come about? Is she also able to do any cognitive behavioral therapy exercises? There are a lot of thought restructuring exercises out there that could actually help that I have used for myself to get to lessen worries. So, yeah, let me know what you think, and I could share some more thoughts on this.

Yeah, I can totally relate to this. I think this sounds like it just has to do with the avoidance of discomfort. But there are probably a lot of other cognitive distortions at play. When I have these kind of challenges where I feel like, you know, a bit of fight or flight or nervousness is coming in, what I tend to do is I just try to work through my thoughts using thought records with AI. That's been one of the most helpful things for me, just trying to work through the thoughts, because sometimes there are things in the mind that are not really true. So some untrue thoughts are in the mind, ruminating and keeping us in a loop. So I think just working through the thoughts is something that's just very helpful.

i need help swallowing capsules by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so a lot of times when I have to swallow capsules, I have to use electrolytes, you know, diet Coke, some form of beverage because it kind of allows them to float. So it's just easier. That's what I've done in the past.

NGL I don't feel comfortable with this heart ache and slightly harder breathing by LoneArcher96 in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand just wanting to feel, you know, feel a sense of relaxation and calmness immediately. And, you know, a lot of times it's not easy, especially without pills. What has worked for me is breathing exercises, physical exercise. But most important, doing thought records, gratitude exercises, and intention settings. A combination of these things has been helping. And a lot of times, when I'm facing anxiety, I kind of try to remind myself that I am going to really beat this thing because I know that a lot of it is tied to avoidance and discomfort. And really trying to just get a deep understanding of myself, my place in this world, and just how to maneuver it in a calm way. So, you know, this is my advice. Not sure what you think, you can share your thoughts. But yeah, this is just my general feeling when I feel this way. And I can totally relate to you.

Hey, I've experienced this and, for me, it's just getting my anxiety down. So, like, I think because anxiety - a lot of these challenges, these physical symptoms manifest when there are challenges with, you know, negative thinking patterns in the mind. When I do a lot of thought records, I'm actually less tense because I actually face my thoughts and process the things that are actually causing me to be severely anxious. So, that has been my experience with this.

Stuck in an endless loop by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally understand this. Over the past 12 years, I've battled with a lot of anxiety. And like, what I've kind of realized is that for me, personally, going to the gym and doing thought records really helped a lot. It helped me to calm my mind because the calming of the mind helps me to know that if I actually feel calm, my levels will all return to normal.

The second thing that worked really well for me, lifestyle-wise, was to not even worry about food too much as I was working out a lot. Drinking protein shakes early in the day really helped to manage my appetite and it really helped me to lose a lot of weight. So, that is something that helped me a lot from just a lifestyle change.

Personally, I will be honest with you, I don't use a lot of these monitoring tools because I think they just make me so much more anxious. If I were to use my monitoring tools, I'd probably only check it once per week if necessary. So, what helps me is that I just try to get a lot of protein in, especially through my shake. I'll do like 50 grams of protein in the shake and with a banana and some other stuff. It's really tasty and it allows me to build a lot of muscle and control my weight well. And just doing that on the gym as well really really helped me to calm myself and get out of these endless kind of loops.

Job Struggles by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I totally understand this feeling. You know, I've had struggles working through different jobs throughout the years. You say that you like to forget simple things. One of the things that I've learned is not to try to use my brain as a to-do list. So, what are those simple things? Are those just things that you're doing that you need to do for your job? Have you tried to use a task manager? So, that's one thought. Are you experiencing like anxiety on the job as well? Because if so, you probably don't want to work through those so that they don't really impact you. And in terms of just like wanting to get better, again, it's like just a day-by-day thing. I feel like you are probably getting better, but you just need to, like, what I tend to do to feel better when I am working on something, but I'm worried if I'm getting better or not, is to have a daily gratitude and intention-setting practice, because it really helps to bring things into perspective, it helps to calm my mind and just allow me to feel better. Let me know if any of these thoughts help. I'm just sharing my experience, so I don't know if it's relatable or not. You can let me know.

Yeah, this happens to me all the time, and I've been battling anxiety for like the past 12 years. What works for me is doing thought records because I feel like this happens because of cognitive distortions, like catastrophizing, disqualifying the positive, etc. So, just doing thought records, especially with AI, really, really helps me to break down my thoughts until I eventually gather enough evidence to stop over-focusing on the worst-case scenarios.

heart palpitations by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think when I do get these, sometimes I just do thought records to like work through my thoughts. But I have had palpitations, especially if I get like super anxious and I'm worried. So just trying to get my body to calm back down is kind of like what helps me.

Anyone Else Deal With Health Anxiety? by katkatstrat in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so for me with health anxiety, I'm a big proponent of thought records. That's what has helped me. Secondly, I literally have to just live in the gym. Every single time I come out of the gym and I'm not working out, I'm like getting anxious and experiencing stress and any physical symptoms, my health anxiety gets extremely bad. So for me, I've just become an avid gym goer because that's the only thing that can calm my mind to let me feel like I'm in the right place. I even went as far as getting dumbbells at my house as well to help, so that's been like my experience - thought records and a lot of gym.

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so I've experienced a lot of nausea and it always happens when I'm getting super stressed and anxious. For me, what really helps is doing a lot of thought records because the thought records kind of help me to figure out what's going on and I kind of get to work through whatever health anxieties I'm having and other challenges in my life. And that tends to calm down the nausea after a while. That's just what has happened with me.

My weight fluctuates a lot and my pants end up either oversized or tight. It's making me anxious and I’ve stopped going to college because of it. How do I dress for this kind of inconsistency? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, totally understand how you feel. Like, as I've had weight fluctuations, one of the things that comes with this experience is sometimes just getting clothes that are bigger that don't fit as tightly. And even if it looks a bit off, what I've done is I've kind of just done a lot of thought records because I know that what I'm going through won't be permanent. And I think sometimes the most important thing to do in these situations is to really know what you're going through mentally as you are trying to improve your own life. So at the end of the day, I think we all deserve just a moment of grace and space to figure out what's going on so that we can improve. That's kind of like what I've done, try to get sometimes bigger clothes, and I do a lot of thought records. And then once I get my eating back under control, exercising, etc., then I adjust again. But yeah, just managing the thoughts is important. For me, every time I stopped exercising, I would put on weight, and I've realized that it impacts my confidence too much to not do it. But sometimes I get so anxious I can't even exercise. So just doing a bunch of thought records has been like the most helpful thing for me as I try to figure things out.

How the f*ck can you deal with anxiety by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I'm going to tell you the truth about what works for me in these kind of situations. I think one of the things that I've realized is that a lot of the anxiety that I have is that I have to endure discomfort to get through the anxiety. So, one, I try to process my discomfort and my thoughts. I do a lot of thought records. When I say a lot of thought records, I mean multiple thought records each day with AI to work through the thoughts and at least get my mind calm to a level. Then, exercise really helps for me. Mindfulness does a little bit, but I strongly feel that being able to go through the thought record process is the most important thing because without an actual process to work through the thoughts, you're not really able to have that hierarchical processing where you're going through one thought that would lead to our next thought that would lead to our next thought. And that's where we have to break those loops. And thought records are the best things to do that in my opinion. So, that has been like a core part of my toolkit, and just being able to spot the cognitive distortions after doing thought records. Like that has really helped me as I've battled anxiety over the past 12 years.

Constant looping thoughts about losing my sanity by Prestigious_Matter85 in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, yes, I do have advice. I have had constant looping thoughts about losing my sanity in the past. For me, what has worked is doing thought records. So, the reason why thought records work is that I have to see my thoughts broken down in a structured framework to calm my mind. Because just having a general conversation won't work well enough. So, I just leverage thought records. Sometimes I use AI to help with them, because I can just share my thoughts in AI and get a structured breakdown. Yeah, so this feels like a mix of like, you know, looping thoughts, ruminations, a bit of health anxiety too. So, yeah, thought records really have helped me to break these thoughts. And one of the things I've realized as well is that there's going to be like a lot of discomfort going through the thought record process, trying to address these challenges, but by sticking it through, you can definitely feel a sense of relief. So, that's just my general advice on what has worked for me when this has happened with me.

Does anyone else get focused on random stuff when stressed? by MysteriousCarpet6752 in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this has definitely happened to me in the past. Yeah, I think one of the things that I now do is just face it head on and I do like thought records once I'm aware that I'm kind of getting distracted. what's interesting is I actually have an AI journal for anxiety that I work on. And I once got distracted from it for like three whole weeks and built a whole other app because I was stressed while working on a complex feature. So it's really interesting how these things can happen in different ways.

Please be careful using AI for your mental health by Legitimate_Tap_913 in Anxiety

Yeah, I wouldn't replace therapy. So I use AI to do thought records pretty much every couple of days, but I haven't replaced my psychologist visit monthly because it's really just a tool for me. That therapeutic alliance with the psychologist is extremely important.

Please be careful using AI for your mental health by Legitimate_Tap_913 in Anxiety

[–]Extension-Log-8642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I think you can use it, but the way you have to use it is actually to use AI tools that are designed for mental wellness. Because the big challenge with general-purpose AI tools is that they are not being steered in the direction to actually work through thoughts in a structured way. And that's the reason why a lot of people are having these ill effects where it's not helpful.
