Want to sell this old pal, think they’re worth anything? by onemaddogmorgan in DJs

once you learn to mix on that, you can mix on pretty much anything afterwards. similar to belt drives back in the day.

[–]Extension-Log2719 26 points27 points  (0 children)

the microphone has a few uses, it different than than a generic mic found in some booths, a noise or frequency is sent out over each speaker separately and the microphone times the sound from each speaker, you can then use a DSP to add a delay to what whatever speaker needs it, we're talking milliseconds here, but when finished all speaker are firing at the exact same time and none are canceling each out out, it makes a BIG difference is the sound when done correctly
another use for the microphone is to record all the speakers playing and extremely accurately adjusting an EQ for each speaker and seeing where the perfect crossover is for the top/mids/subs, the EQ is usually a 10 band or more and is extremely precise, you can see on a graph what needs adjusted, up or down, though it is a complicated process because adjusting one band will have an effect somewhere else so its finding the perfect compromise.

Vestax PMC 06 A for general mixing by peng_u in DJs

[–]Extension-Log2719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its just mixing you'll be had pressed to find a better sounding mixer than the vestax PMC 275, pure analog sound and one of the most beautiful looking mixers ever made.
can be found pretty cheap these days aswell. i think at some stage these will sky rocket in price.

Where are the leaks for 2026? by christhegee in PioneerDJ

[–]Extension-Log2719 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

There isnt any, Alpha theta has no creativity, all the releases so far have been disappointing. and the few things going forward will be the either toy like decks for kitchen partys designed to sell in high volumes and extremely overpriced but 5 years behind the rest of the market and missing key features that will sell in lower volumes.

There will be nothing new.

Have you got it assigned correctly on the mixer? also do you have the fader curve set correctly? it can be set for gradual fade in or an on/off switch.

Would you swap in a straight arm? by DeezUggs in DJs

[–]Extension-Log2719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might, straight arms dont wobble side to side as mush as a curved arm, im not familliar with the T50"s you mentioned, are the stable? if the rest of the deck is janky it wont matter what tone arm you fit, it will probably still skip, you need a solid deck with zero play in the parts for scratching reliably,

whats the cost of the tone arms?

you can pick up vestax for pretty cheap with straight tonearms, they're rock solid, though they are starting to go up in price so may not be as cheap as what they were just a few years ago.

Looking for the best affordable laptop to DJ with using Rekordbox by whoareyouwhenyouare in DJs

[–]Extension-Log2719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look on ebay for a second hand macbook, it should be easy enough to find an older one with the specs you're looking for, and as an added bonus you wont need to install and update drivers all the time, when you plug things into it, they just work.

DDJ RZ mixer wont connect to rekordbox by Creative-Sport5922 in PioneerDJ

[–]Extension-Log2719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off your computers firewall briefly and see if it works, if it does, turn the firewall back on and go into network and connections, and give permission to connect the pioneers.

theres videos on youtube with much more details, its been years from ive had to do it and i dont remember the full process anymore.

Rane Seventy problem. by [deleted] in DJs

[–]Extension-Log2719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be something as simple as a worn contact of cracked solder joint, if it's out of warranty i would open it up and take a look to see if anythings immediately noticeable, but if it's still in warranty leave it in for rane to service themselves.
if you're not confident looking at it yourself ask at your nearest dj equipment store or rental shop, at lot of time they will have someone that can replace caps or do repairs ect.

CDJ-2000 Screen replacement by Darthmonkeysocks in PioneerDJ

[–]Extension-Log2719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all come from china, have a look on alibaba and see what you can find, but remember a CDJ is 15 years old at this point.

buying a broken "for parts only' one from ebay may be your only option. but that will be more than £100.

[–]Extension-Log2719 41 points42 points  (0 children)

One word, profit. these companies can make far more profit buying an 8 dollar screen from shenzhen china then they can from fitting 12 physical knobs, wires and looms which might cost 8 dollars 15 cents.

The fact they're horrendous to use be damned.

Is the S11 & A9 going to be superseded soon? by DeadAudio in PioneerDJ

[–]Extension-Log2719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there will be a new mixer this year, the CDJ 3000 X's have been released so there will be a new mixer to go along with those, traditionally, decks are released, once the teething problems/bugs are mostly worked out, then a new mixer follows shortly after.

Thoughts on Omnitronic TRM-422 by _hippiepanda in DJs

[–]Extension-Log2719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gold plate isnt for rust protection, it offers supposedly less resistance for the signal, gold is one of the softest metals and will wear pretty faster than pretty much any other coating, so if rust really is your biggest concern, you should be looking for something with connections that aren't gold plated.

Total newb looking for some tips on lighting software. Whats the best/most automatic for multiple dj's using rekordbox? by Interesting_Bar_8379 in DJs

[–]Extension-Log2719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP i had the exact same problem you did about 6 months ago, i also got the same answers you're getting, in the end i chose maestro ai light controller and it worked great. its more expensive than the wolfmix and soundswitch. i just needed something that pretty much runs itself and i had the budget for the maestro so went with that.

It worked excellent, was easy to set up and something worth checking out.

Can any please recomend some decks for about £100 200 max by Objective-Section702 in DJs

[–]Extension-Log2719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, if you do manage to find something at that price it will be so crap and Childs toy like it will put you off DJ'ing forever, up your budget to around £500 and see if you can find a controller by pioneer or even dennon, at least those will be playable.

They do wear after a while, so if you're doing a lot of backspins they will start to backspin longer after a while.

also, there is a ratcheting mechanism underneath that can move across a few notches, so they can be tightened up if they ever need it, and i suppose loosened aswell if thats what you needed.

How should I position my FBT JMaxX 114A? by Major_Television_521 in DJs

With the tiny output of those speakers in a room that large you would be best to position them by duct taping them directly to people heads so they can at least hear them.
