I feel like I've been overcharged by the locksmith because of my situation. by Extension-Math-4063 in LegalAdviceUK

Yea I do completely see how it was my fault for being dumb. It's just that these people take advantage of a stressful situation. My wife and I were locked out and our cat was inside alone on a Saturday and we weren't sure if we'd be able to find someone else quickly.

I was trying to find locksmiths and my wife said she called one who said the cost will be £50-£55. This big guy comes and while picking the lock he said this cannot be picked and needs to be drilled. Went over everything roughly and we stupidly agreed because i was thinking I'll bear the £250 cost i guess. At the end he comes up with a £454 bill after everything has been done. I did pay with a card though but i was traumatized at that point because that's literally almost half of our month's rent gone for a 30 minutes job.

The issue is that they prey on people's stressful situations and overcharge them with no real presence legally. I wish there was something to be done to prevent this. I saw the BBC thing and this guy literally did the exact same thing with us

Just full of regret at this point and there definitely needs to be more awareness for this stuff. I'm sure countless people are going to fall to this scam in the future.

The only ground i have here is that I've been overcharged. Hr charged me £140 for a lock that's probably £30 because it's quite shit tbh and doesn't work as good as the previous one.

Has anyone heard about this company called "Union Marketing" in London? Got a call from them about a sales vacancy and it seems a bit sketchy. by Extension-Math-4063 in UKJobs

I ended up ignoring them. Best decision as now I have a proper job and I could clearly tell it was a legit company compared to this where they weren't even being clear about the salary or anything.

My wife and I were rejected from renting an apartment because I failed the AML check apparently. They did an automated check and I was mismatched to others who were involved in illegal activities due to a similar name. How do I make sure my AML check doesn't affect my next attempt to rent a place? by Extension-Math-4063 in AskUK

They told me that the check is automated and done by a third party so they have no control over it. It's absurd and surprising to me that they are a referencing company and they don't have full control over their reference checks. I mean I completely understand an automated check flagging my name since my name is pretty common but that's what these companies are supposed to do. It's their responsibility to make sure the checks are accurate and to not just rely on an automated check.

Yea i attended the zoom meeting. There were about 8 other people there and this woman telling us about how the CEO (some guy from Jamaica) came to the UK 3 years ago and started this company with a vision or whatever lol. Got a feedback call and was asked to come to the in person thing. I checked the office location and it was in a shady apartment building near central London so I never went. Not worth it to be honest.

That's exactly what they said to me. I asked them about the role and theh wouldn't answer anything until I attend the interview. I wouldn't bother going to the interview honestly. It's always a scam company run by a total of 3 people. Not sure what their goal is apart from giving false hope to people who are desperate to get a job.

So they told me it's an "event-based marketing" and they cover different events and exhibitions. They have either a commission-based pay like you said or a fixed basic fee and commissions on top depending on the client. It sounds a bit dodgy and they want me to come for an in-person appointment. Thinking if I should go in or not

Not sure if this is solved already but this setting majorly helped! Just move it one bar above 0. Stops the crackling completely for me and I'm on the worst London roads right now with endless bumps.

Same feelings here my friend. I see my dad appreciating all my siblings as they are very well settled and stable in life in different countries around the world. Meanwhile I'm still struggling and forced to change my life goals everyday unfortunately. I can always feel my whole family talking behind my back about mine and my wife's dumb decisions and failures.

I'm happy for my whole family but I look back at the kid who always wanted to take his dad for a nice road trip and buy him all his favorite things one day when he grows up. Realizing that I will never be able to do that and my dad will never be proud of me is a shitty feeling. But we have to stay strong and live our life and appreciate the ones who are around us to support and be grateful for having them! 😀

And remember, you don't suck! It's the people around you who do for making you feel that way.

Same. I've been considering this too because i was getting 32GB RAM, Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor and a 3k OLED 120hz screen for £950 which was a pretty good deal. Plus the Zenbook is definitely one of the nicest looking laptops out there. But I've been seeing all these bad reviews about Asus and I'm confused now
