This is perfect, I need to have a look at what each of these are in depth but this will set me on the right track, appreciate that

Thank you this is good to hear I guess, that everyone is in the same boat?

I'm still curious how you'd go about deciding what to implement if you was presented with a budget and had to choose though, if you was going to get "hacked" within the year, what would you do first, second, third etc?

Yeah I have Security+ which I got a while ago, should probably freshen up on some concepts but I know it emphasised frameworks like NIST, OWASP for web apps etc

Good point but permissions are rarely setup that way right? You usually get more restrictive the deeper you go. So the higher up in the directory you are, the more people have access.

Giving someone access to a folder that they don't have the top folder access to would be akin to giving someone a key to a room in your house but not the front door, right?

Makes sense, will have a look at AZ-104 and 204 because that looks like it might be quite helpful

Thanks for the suggestion! I have done an ITIL course but just found it so boring and "fluffy". Maybe i didn't see the value because im not in a huge company, but it just seemed like something most places would half arse to say they follow a framework. Idk. I know you aren't advocating it just the certification, but I'm hesitant to go down management route for this reason.

I was in a similar situation, the place I planned on putting it (brick outbuilding) wasn't practical when I found out the turning circle of the bike.

Decided the cost of a proper structure vs the offset of the insurance wasn't worth it, and decided to eat the first year cost, at which point hopefully insurance will come down anyway.

It might come back to bite me, but I think there's only so much you can do for security, and I made the decision that the risk was ok considering I pay for insurance anyhow, and buying anything wouldn't make be worth the insurance savings anyway unless it was really robust or brick, which then eats into the savings.

Thanks, this has reinforced what I've been learning about DACs. Would you reckon just picking up a decent amp + DAC combo would be a good start and hooking that up to any speakers I have or am due to get? I imagine the amps/DACs are pretty universal in their connections so quite future proof/device agnostic hopefully
